The premise is simple: Kings trade the #7 pick to Utah for #14 and #21.
Why for the Jazz? I was just reading up on Carter-Williams and saw an interesting note in a scouting report--"Ideally, he would wind up on an NBA team built like Syracuse, with athletic big men who can run the floor and dead-eye shooters who can space it." To me, that sounds like the Jazz. However, I could also see the Pistons at #8 (who'd like the combo with Knight and the athletic Drummond) or the Mavs (who DX currently has picking MCW at #13) nabbing him first. So, the Jazz finally make a move for their point guard of the future to pair with Favors, Hayward, Kanter, and Burks.
Why for the Kings? The Kings are in somewhat of an odd spot at #7. None of the players (assuming Noel, Porter, and Oladipo are off the board) are can't miss or an ideal fit. If the Kings are going to roll the dice on a player who has significant flaws, why not roll the dice twice? This allows them to take a gamble on two of the intriguing mid-round guys. Take your pick--Adams, Schroeder, Adetokunbo, Gobert, Dieng, Franklin, Nogueira, etc. I think I'd rather have two out of that group than one of Burke, MCW, McCollum, Zeller, etc.
