Three Trades for the Kings

Ok, we've all figured out that Kings fans are extremely picky about trading Ron Artest these days, apparently they want expirings and all stars for a guy who is leaving next year anyway. So, listen to these three trades, all the salaries work, and all involve Ron Ron heading to Dallas, here we go:

Trade 1:

Dallas to Sacramento:

G Jerry Stackhouse
F Brandon Bass
2nd Round Pick

Sacramento to Dallas:

F Ron Artest

Why: Sacramento picks up a large expiring in Stackhouse (low amount of guaranteed next year) and a promising young F in Brandon Bass and his low salary. Dallas picks up Ron Artest who they apparently have interest in.

Trade 2:

Dallas to Sacramento:

F Josh Howard
G Jerry Stackhouse
F Brandon Bass

Sacramento to Dallas:

F Ron Artest
F Kenny Thomas

Why: The Kings get a solid all star capable SF in Josh Howard, dump Thomas' big contract, and pick up the eventual expiring Stackhouse. Dallas picks up Artest and replaces Bass as a backup PF with Thomas.

Trade 3:

Dallas to Toronto:

F Josh Howard
G Jerry Stackhouse

Sacramento to Dallas:

F Ron Artest
F Kenny Thomas

Toronto to Sacramento:

F Andrea Bargnani
F Jason Kapono
G Anthony Parker

Why: Dallas gets Artest and experience in Thomas. Toronto picks up a reliable SF in Josh Howard and a nice veteran in Stackhouse. And finally, Sacramento picks up a three point wizard in Kapono, a veteran solid guard in Parker, and a young developing Bargnani. Both Bargnani and Parker add up to about 10 million in expiring. So, you guys gonna bite?

The best two options at this point are a S@T with Philly sending KT and Artest for Iggy (his new contract would be around 13 mil) or Artest and KT for Lamar. I'm sure if we brought back Iggy we would have to ship out Salmons or Garcia as well.

Say we get Iggy, then we ship Miller and Salmons to Cleveland for Wally World and Damon Jones. Thats another 17 mil in expirings right there so we would be back on track for the '10 offseason.

We look like

Udrih/Singletary/Jones
Martin/Garcia/Douby
Iggy/Garcia/Wally/Ewing JR.
Thompson/Williams/SAR
Hawes/Moore/Thompson

Philly looks like

Miller/Williams/Ollie
Young/Green
Artest/Smith
Brand/Evans/Speights
Dalembert/Speights/Randolph

and the Cavs look like

Gibson/Snow
Salmons/Pavlovic/Brown
James/Pavlovic
Miller/Hickson/Smith
Wallace/Big Z/Varejao

If Cleveland was smart they would follow this up by sending either Big Z or Big Ben to Dallas for Stackhouse and a filler piece. Eddie Jones, Devean George.

See? There you are getting picky again. Sacramento isn't getting Iggy for Ron Artest, the Kings aren't getting anyone of that calibre for a guy who expires and could very well move anywhere next year.

Why in the hell would Philly give up Iggy for Artest?

They are in no hurry to resign him because he rejected their extension offer, they just went from rebuild to 'win now' and Artest is the better player. Its something thats been circulating around the Philly boards.

Odom is better than Iggy anyway, but Iggy is younger and is like a cheap Josh Smith.

P{icky is getting Howard for Artest.. No way the Mavs do that. They would be crazy.

Why? Howard had a terrible playoff, in which he shot under 30% and also admitted to pot smoking before the pivotal game 3. Artest has worked under Rick Carlisle before and Carslisle said he would like to coach him again. Sounds like a match made in heaven to me.

I want Ron to go to Dallas simply, because he'll end up choking Carlisle like Sprewell did to Carlesimo

All of your trade scenarios are apparently predicated on this assumption. And I'm not buying the assumption. Sorry. Mark Cuban may be a lot of things but I don't think he wants the problems associated with Ron Artest.

And, even if you buy into the assumption, you're having Dallas give up some really good young talent for someone who becomes a free agent at the end of the season. Not something I see Cuban doing.

He tried to do a fix on the fly by trading to get Jason Kidd. I don't think he's going to make that mistake again.

I am not sure its an assumption by the poster. I have seen in a few places that Dallas is a one of the teams interested in Ron.

Which is why I would just rather get an old fashioned first round pick and some expirings for him. Nothing more, but certainly nothing less.

Po-TAY-to, po-TAH-to.

;)

Regardless of whether the assumption is from the OP or from other "places," it's still an assumption. And, as I said, even if you buy into it, you're still left with Cuban giving up Josh Howard and I don't think it's gonna happen.

I'll be totally blunt. I don't think there's anywhere near the interest out there for Ron (or should I say "William"?) Artest that he and his agent would like people to believe. Every single time he opens his mouth - or emails the media - it lowers his value. He's like the second piece of luggage on your vacation - you really have to wonder if it's worth all the extra cost.

Alright then, would you guys consider a Stack and Bass for Artest swap? You pick up a semi-expiring in Stackhouse and Bass is a great young talent.

Artest is not better than Iggy and they'll never do that trade.

Absolutely. Salmons gets to start (he does produce when starting). Garcia and Stackhouse become the main bench guys. Not sure how good Thompson will be, but Bass is already better than any PF on the team, other than (maybe) Moore. I know that the Mavericks have recently signed James Singleton, who may have cut into Bass' minutes anyway.
