The kings really have only won 1 , maybe 2 big games all year

@ phoenix
@ lakers (if you can count that as a big game)

we have lost to every other good team just about

again this is off of the top of my head, and i havnt checked the schedule, and i am still frustrated after this loss.....this was big, but another classic CHOKE

WOW! I am really starting to lose confidence in the Kings chances. Doug or no Doug, Brad or no Brad, BoJax or no BoJax, we just can't seem to beat the real contenders in the league. Why is this? :(

This concerns me also... certainly we have some good excuses now with Bobby being out, but the proof thus far is in the pudding. We beat all the bad teams and some of the mediocre teams, but lose to every good team. That makes us a good but not great team to this point of the season :)

We have SA coming up--I'd like to see us win against a "good" team starting then.

So far we're not an elite team in my opinion. A very skilled team with some bad weaknesses. At this point this team looks no better than last year's team. Last year's team couldn't do it and I'm thinking the same thing this year. They'll win 50+ games and get out of the first round of the PO but I'm not counting on even getting to the WCF this year. I'll support them and watch the games but I'm also a realist. this team ain't gonna win the championship this year with what they have unless there's some miraculous turnaround in their defense and rebounding in particular.

it does feel nice to have given the suns one of their 3 losses, but thats about it.

it's not just the losses, it's how many have been lost. the woofs games, this game tonight, we were in control, had the game, should have won, but found a way to lose it. thats the concerning part.

the good news is theres still time to improve, but the kings lack of composure late in games, and the inabilty to get key stops could very well be the kings downfall. time will tell.

GO KINGS!

edit: i'm with rhuber, i'll take any tickets anyone wants to give away :D

Well tonight they rebounded really well, thanks in part to Mo Evans and Ostertag, but the defense has always been a problem. Its not like we were ever considered a good defensive team. So I guess the wait on that miracle defensive turnaround is now at 3 yrs and counting.

I agree with you. I guess I should have added something about mental toughness and a closer instinct. I'm seeing a pattern here of mental collapses that is quite alarming. I mean the way this team has lost to the T-Wolves the last couple of times seems like a team that doesn't believe they can win. And tonight's game, at home and blowing two good leads becoming a pattern against tough teams.

I just don't see us getting over the hump this year.

I won't go that far yet. Hey maybe this is a good thing. The Kings usually destroy in the regular season and go bye bye in the playoffs. Maybe this year is the reverse! I would still like to see them when against some quality opponents though.

I actually thought the Kings shored up their defense last year in the playoffs. it was their offense that kinda went South when they needed it most. like tonight when they had their dry spells and the heat came back. We couldn't score when they went on their runs and that sucked.

Petrie needs to make some kind of deal to bring in some new energy, we cant go on what we have at the moment all year. Just isnt going to work. I'm not one to forfeit the future, but if it means giving up a couple of first rounders a few years down the road to bring in that new energy, so be it, but someone has to see that this is what we need. I'm not panicking, and I do think we would win 50 games with the lineup that we have now, but bringing in something new might be good for the team, another scorer off the bench would be key...or some new defensive energy besides Greg, maybe. Something has to give.

i agree with most of what everyone here has to say. it's very concerning that we've only had 1-2 quality wins, and the rest of our victories have come off teams we should beat. although that's not a bad thing, i'd like for this team to have won a few more against quality opponents.

late game composure, killer instinct ... whatever you call it, it's missing.

Composure in the face of pressure, and putting the other team away when they are down; that is what we lack.

I do tend to agree that we haven't really won a "big" game yet. If you throw out the first 3 games of the season(all home openers against good teams) they really haven't played anyone. Lakers twice, Minnesota twice and Phoenix once. Out of those we are 2-4 and 3 of the games have been on the road. It was actually nice at ARCO last night to have a "playoff" atmosphere and the crowd was really into it. The officials caught alot of crap(especially Salvatore). I really like what I saw out of Mo Evans last night and I think we will see big things from him this year.

This time last year, we were really hot. Brad was unbelievable and I thought that if we could play that kind of ball come playoff time, ...wow. But things happen. So, I guess I'm just saying, it is early.

I also agree that we haven't won many big games, but like the end of last season, we are adjusting again. I think the next few months will be a good build up for us because we have home games against good opponents. We just have to really work on our problems (defensive and offensive lapses), and hopefully Adelman will also "learn" who he can trust to put in, with Bobby out.

Also, January is traditionally a mentally challenging time to keep up the intensity.
(that time of year that is squished between the end of the excitement of starting the season and the beginning of the necessity of getting everyone together for the play offs.)

Hopefully, the Kings can use this time to work hard on their flaws, get into a flow with some tough teams at home, and not fall asleep next month.

I agree with you on us not having won any big games yet...but not on seeing big things from Mo Evans...as much as I'd like to think that, you know how Adelman is, he'll throw Bobby right back into the fire as soon as he comes back, and its back to the end of the bench for Evans when that happens. Come playoff time, Evans will be playing garbage time once again
