I initially thought I would go with the obvious choice here, which would be Mr. Wiggins at number 1, and I decided against that because I would bore myself by just thinking of what I wanna say. I then thought I would be Mr. Nice Guy and go with the selection made by my favorite team, but then I realized we passed on Noah Vonleh (although I do think Stauskas will do well for us). So, with the number 1 and 8 picks out of the question, I then looked at the rest of the draft board and started to think to myself, hmmmmm, who should I give my prestigious award to. Who deserves to be the 1st recipient of such an award? I found it difficult to find my answer. So I decided to scratch the thought of going through with this thing. Wait, not so fast says my brain! I finally figured it out. The Pick of the Draft actually does not appear on any "Draft Boards" out there. Nor will it appear on any "Draft Grades" out there. Who is this person, you may ask?
Isaiah Austin.
A pick that will never be listed amongst the future greats of this draft class. A pick that never wore any team colors. But, a pick that I personally will never forget for as long as I lived. Adam Silver deserves every inch of praise that he has received by doing this. What an amazing moment and what a classy move by the National Basketball Association for making this young man's dream come true.
If I had any doubts on how great of a commissioner Adam Silver can be (and I actually had very little, if any at all), Mr. Silver may have erased all of them....Kudos, Adam, Kudos!!!
