Starters Announced Tonight

Will the current ballot-leaders hold their spots? Or will there be a last-minute switch? Find out tonight on TNT, as the starters in the 2005 All-Star Game in Denver are announced during a twinbill between the Cavaliers and Heat (8 p.m. ET) and the Spurs and Lakers (10:30 p.m. ET).

If the current voting trends hold, then Houston's Yao Ming would finish as the top overall vote-getter. As of Jan. 20, Yao (2,153,039 votes) held a narrow lead over Miami's Shaquille O'Neal (2,099,201 votes) in the 2005 NBA All-Star Balloting program. Kevin Garnett, the 2003-04 NBA Most Valuable Player from the Minnesota Timberwolves, is third overall and leads Western Conference forwards.

Through the 2005 All-Star Balloting program, NBA fans from around the globe have the opportunity to select the starters for the 54th classic, which will be held in Denver on Sunday, Feb. 20, 2005. The 2005 All-Star starters will be unveiled on Thursday, Feb. 3. The head coaches will then vote and determine the remaining All-Stars in their respective conferences. The 2005 NBA All-Star Game will air live from Denver at 8 p.m. ET, Sunday, Feb. 20 on TNT, ESPN Radio and in over 200 countries around the world.

Anyone from the Kings y'all think? Well i'd rather they rest & prepare for the 2nd half of the season though it would be nice & fun to see all the stars there. Go MO Evans!

I don't think any Kings got as much fans vote to make the Starters list. But from bench, perhaps Webber or Miller may make the list.

they stoped the voting like a week and half ago so...the ones who you see to have the most votes are the starters...i just can't wait to here the reserves....and i really want to know who the reserves will be in the East cuz OFCOURSE no one is even talking about the East all stars

But as of Jan. 20, Peja leads Webber in voting. Miller will for sure make it.
That's fan voting. Doesn't count once you start talking about reserves, which is what I was talking about. May not have made that clear.

None of our players will be voted as starters this year, but I think that Webber and Miller will be picked as reserves by the coaches. Peja won't be.

That's my guess, anyways.

^^ He'll probably make the team, but won't play. At least I hope he won't play.
Probably he won't. I saw last night (or I think 2 nights ago) on SportCenter that Kobe will be back after the All Star break?

2 centers, 5 forwards, 5 guards ==> 7 bigs.
None of those seven bigs are swing players that can play SF. That would leave five choices to cover the 1,2 and 3 spots. Not going to happen. Miller won't make it.

What is SF?? ;)

Actually, Webber and Miller might both make the team - if Webber is chosen and cannot play due to injury, they might put in Miller as a replacement.

unbelievable that vince carter makes the starting team. i dont much care for the all star game anymore, cuz its really deteriorated these past few years, but to me, starting vince (even in the east) is really really sad. the nba needs to think of a different way to do all star voting, cuz this is just pathetic. vince carter has played such uninspired basketball this season. he admitted to not playing hard when he was in toronto, and he hasnt done much in NJ. i havent followed the east much this season, but there has gotta be a few more guards out there much more deserving than vince freakin carter.

Agree that's the way Miller might make it. Some would make a case for Brand or Gasol. Kirilenko was on his way until the knee injury.

Letting fans vote is proof postive taht democracy does not yeild the most qualified only the most popular... The only Allstar slots that realy maean anyting are the coaches selections.

As for the Kings I hope neither Webb or Pedaj play and if Miller does I hopw his stent is short and he is carefull to take care of himself above everything else.. I'd like to see Bibby play just to shwo hte skeptics once again how good he really is. I get sick of comparisons to guys like Baron Davis and and Sam Casllel and the coments that he is dependat on the pick and roll to score.

They should change the rule such that Starters are voted by the coaches and the reserve are pick by the fan. Or even better, the coaches have veto power over the fan's choice.

I didn't even vote because I'm not sure I want any of our players playing when they don't have to; we're pretty banged up right now. But it would be nice to see Bibby make the roster because he hasn't been there, yet. He's a great player and deserves to have the title of "All-Star". Miller doesn't seem to care and would probably prefer to be out somewhere in the woods. That leaves Webb and Peja, and I’d prefer them to take the week off and rest.

Miller getting hurt last year during the game really took the air out of this "fun" event. I just want our players to rest up, clear their minds and re-focus for the stretch run.

It all depends on what the coaches are looking for. Nash is definitely #1 as far as the reserves go. I think if they're looking for another point guard, Mike's gotta be right there. Last year they picked 2 centers(Shaq & Brad) behind Yao so it's not impossible that Brad won't make it this year just because of Amare'.

They might pick Chris but he needs to rest his knee as much as possible. Same for Peja.

The only King who's not going to pass up the opportunity is Mike. That's a given.

I hope they don't make the team. Both need to rest and Miller would be just happy in the woods.

i agree

and good point about the 2 centers deal last year

as for Mike even if they do opt for another PG...i have a funny feeling that Mr. Tony Parker MAY just edge out Mike...eek...TP is playing VERY well this year
