Songaila and Barnes are starters

I'd be surprised if Songaila keeps his spot if Sweetney develops, but from looking over the Bulls box score the other night, it appears that the Bulls aren't afraid to play 10 people. Who'd have thought Duhon would be the team captain at this point?

As for Barnes, with all the players that want to constantly shoot, I'm not surprised he's seeing significant floor time for the Knicks. I think he'd have stuck with the Sixers if they weren't in such desperate need of shooting.

It's amazing how all the guys we let go are doing great with their present teams and the people we kept are sucking balls....

Hmm... Doug Christie is averaging 2.0 points per game in 27.5 minutes. Barnes had 9 points 5 boards in 24 minutes. Songaila had 11 and 5 in 23 minutes. Evans had 7 points. And of course there's Webber, 24.0 and 11.

I mean, great for these guys, but it's not like they're tearing up the league (with the exception of Webber).

And Gerald Wallace. And Hedo Turkoglu. And Eddie House isn't doing half-bad, either.

You act like he said that they were putting up All-Star numbers; Songaila's numbers are great, as are Barnes', considering that he's the 4th or 5th scoring option in that offense. 7 pts off the bench for Evans is great as well; I WISH we still had guys as good as them coming off our bench.

i find it funny that the bench that we had at the start of last season is doing so well.... we lost all of them for nothing..... i understand the webber trade but damn, i didnt want to lose barnes.... i really miss house and darius too... i didnt care about evans.... since we had martin, but with peja, kenny and mike sucking right now, barnes, darius and eddie would have been great to have....

I don't think Songaila keeps the spot as pernament, because of Sweetney, and Skiles never had a regular, all-the-time starting line-up last year. Not saying Sweetney gets it, but they alternate. If Lynch is brought in, Barnes goes back to the bench obviously. But I'd say Barnes stays there for now, since Larry has said he doesn't want to use Q-Rich at SF. Though I think it's possible Barnes/Ariza will altnernate, as Larry likes Ariza too.

The bench guys we had are getting more minutes, simple as that.

Songalia also hit a game winner the other night, didn't he? They are playing well. I wish we could trade Price + Thomas and get House, Barnes and Songilia back.

Oh well.

Not the game winner, but a jumper to cut the once 20+ pt lead down to 3-4 pts, then a three pointer to tie the game at 98, and make it go into OT after 'Cats couldn't do anything. He had a few nice plays in OT also.

See the game thread for more.

I still really like Price, despite House's great shooting, and think Price is going to be good. KT I think he's still getting it together (like most of the team), and would rather have him over Songaila. Barnes I'd absolutely love to have back, and don't know why he wasn't brought in any kind of way (training camp, signee, etc.). He'd be a damn good back-up for Peja, and can bring it on both ends solidly. As Barnes has definitely improved on offense. If Lynch is brought into the Knicks, it's likely Barnes will be waived... still unclear though.

Not sure why anybody'd think that Barnes wouldn't start; he's proven to have a high basketball IQ, and Larry Brown, perhaps more than any other coach, is particularly enamored of players like that. I'm watching NYK/GSW right now, and he's been playing quite well.

I'm just glad that he didn't end up on the Spurs...

Yeah me too. Barnes has made a few nice plays to the basket. Again showing his offensive improvement.

he had 4 steals against the spurs and he's never been much of a scorer. it's not like they need that from him in dallas anyway. he looked really good yesterday and i would absolutely love for him to be on our team. it would've been better had we actually gotten something of value for trading doug.

maybe i was seeing some vintage doug last night but i really miss those break away steals he'd get and take to the other end for 2 points.

Cool and interesting to see Larry using the scrappy and fun Knick youngsters that finished games/played a lot of 2nd halves in pre-season. Larry said he wouldn't do that during the season. Probably to match-up vs. the Warriors.

I like it though.

Edit: Well, expectedly, took them out with 5 1/2 mins left
