Solar storms can present a serious health risk to those persons running around outside when they occur. A solar storm amounts to a gigantic burst of radiation from the sky.
Actually, I like to know when these things are coming. NASA detected the problem on May 13, then issued a low-key "solar storm warning" on Sunday, May 15. What good is a warning if it comes after the event? Really stupid!
Was this merely a bureaucratic "told you so" statement, or what?
