Lauren Jackson Re-Signs with Seattle

http://www.wnba.com/storm/news/jackson090504.html

If Jackson would have signed in Phoenix, I think they would have been the odds on favorite to win the West. Now that Jackson has gone back where she belongs in Seattle, this weakens Phoenix and makes Seattle better than they would have been without her, but not much better than they were last season (if that makes sense:confused:).

In other words there is no clear cut favorite to win the Western Conference this season. IT IS WIDE OPEN AND VERY BALANCED!! Every single team (including Minnesota) has enough talent to win in the West. Which means every team can also finish last. I believe this season it really will come down to health and home court supremacy and road competancy.

How does it weaken Phx? Maybe I'm questioning verb tense here but I don't get how Phx just got weaker. They were in trouble IMO the minute they traded Kelly Miller for no appreciably discernable reason - so they were already weak(er) and not having Taylor sorta still sucks.

I have honestly lost track of who the purported odds on favorite is in the west because of [pick flavor of the week transaction and insert name here].... let's just tip the season and let it play out already.

That is exactly what I am saying (only for the sake of pre-season conversation of course). Had Phoenix signed Jackson, with or without Miller, in my opinion they would have been the favorite. But now that Phoenix could not get Jackson, they are nowhere near what they could have been.
