To all of you SACRAMENTO Kings fans,

Let me introduce myself a little bit first. My name is Ryan and I am a 20 year old college student. I am double majoring in sport management and journalism. My goal in five years is to be a beat writer (or something similar) for a professional sports team. I live in Ohio and am a die hard Blue Jackets and Reds fan. With that being said...

The only sport I have never followed (of the mainstream sports) is the NBA. I can't name a single player on the Kings roster, but right now, those two things are irrelevant.

My sole purpose of this post and my registration was to say this: I am hurting with you Kings fans.

You know, when people become attached to a sports team, that become attached to exactly that - the team. The main attraction isn't a superstar player or a hard-working, shows-up-everyday kind of player. The main attraction isn't the name on the back of the jersey, but it's the name on the front.

I was watching a video of the Kings commentators closing out the season and even I, a random 20 year old student from Ohio, was tearing and choking up. I realize the pure passion that goes along with the attachment to a sports team. You feel like one of the players. At least I do. If someone goes after one of my Blue Jackets players, I immediately become furious (if it's a dirty player or something like that)! Why? Because there's such a strong connection in sports - such a strong passion that unites the fans to the players, and the players to the fans.

I am hurting for you guys and with you guys. I can't express how badly I want to wake up to SportsCenter in the morning to "BREAKING NEWS: Kings to stay in Sacramento." I can't express how badly I want your Kings to stay in your city. I am truly, deeply, so sorry for you folks.

Good luck the rest of the way, Kings fans, and just know that there are other passionate sports fans like myself out there - somewhere - hurting for you guys just like I am.

-Ryan

Thanks for the post, Ryan. It's nice to know that people outside the area are empathetic to what's going on here. The anxiety and depression over the last 6 weeks has been intense. It looks like things may have shifted in our favor today though, so let's all hope and pray that Kevin Johnson and all working with him can pull off a miracle.
