Shams: Warriors expected to pivot to a DeRozan trade after Butler injury

I’m not suggesting what I would do if I were the warriors, I’m just saying…even though he puts up numbers and presumably is a good guy, there are many teams that want nothing to do with his play style. Why do you think he ended up on the Kings to begin with?
All it takes is one team that wants his scoring ability, especially in 4th quarters down the stretch of the season, when things move into more of a half court style. Even if it's in a non starting role, there's at least a couple teams that are interested

Zach LaVine
DeMar DeRozan

For

Jimmy Butler
Jonathan Kuminga
Will Richard

If we waive Westbrook (or trade him to a team that wants him), that leaves us with…

PG - Monk / Schroder
SG - Ellis / Carter / Butler
SF - Murray / Clifford / Richard / McDermott
PF - Kuminga / Achiuwa / Saric
C - Sabonis / Raynaud / Cardwell / Eubanks

And that leaves GSW with…

PG - Curry / Podz / Curry
SG - LaVine / Melton / Payton
SF - Moody / DeRozan / Hield
PF - Green / Santos
C - Horford / Post / Jackson-Davis

I could also see a world where GSW doesn’t want DeRozan and wants more size. This could be an alternative…

Although, I hate the Warriors, a trio of Curry, LaVine, and Porter would be very interesting to watch. Those are 3 of the best shooters in the game.

And if they wanted to get really crazy, I guess they could send out Moody instead of Hield and trot out a Curry, Hield, LaVine, Porter, & Green lineup. I doubt they are stopping anyone defensively (and Green would probably get ejected each game for assaulting his teammates), but the shooting/floor spacing would be insane with that group.

KOC pod suggested Zion and Murphy for Jimmy Kuminga and a bunch of draft picks. That would be a swing for the fence type deal the Warriors should make. If Nawlins came out of it with 3 or 4 firsts and Kuminga I think that’s a good deal for them too.

Why would the Pels do it? Even Dumars is not that dumb.

Deebo has historically been a very divisive player. Puts up numbers but all the way back to when he was traded to the Spurs, many of the ‘smart’ franchises wanted nothing to do with his style of play. The perception has changed a bit over the years, but I believe there are certain clubs that never wanted a player like him and probably still wouldn’t. Other than being a grizzled vet, I’m not totally sure why Kerr would have much of a different opinion of Deebo than he does Kuminga. Butler is kind of a similar player style but at least he’s a known defender. Maybe they are just desperate to salvage the season, but I’m not sure I can totally envision Deebo on the warriors.

Jimmy Butler's principle strength as an offensive player is getting to the free throw line. His 7.6 FTA per game this season ranks 6th in the NBA and he's been consistently inside the top 10 in the league in that category for most of his career. The same is true for DeMar, who has slid to 12th in FTA per game this season with his minutes and touches going down under Doug Christie, but finished 11th and 4th respectively in the previous two seasons and has finished within the top 10 in 8 different seasons. DeMar DeRozan is as close to a 1-to-1 fit for Butler's offense as they're going to find mid-season. He also won't cut into their summer of 2017 cap space at all and has only $10 million of his salary guaranteed for next season. Yes the defense is a downgrade which is why they're still looking at other options but if they are serious about trying to compete this season, there aren't a lot of solid 20 ppg veterans on the trade block besides DeMar.

Starting to feel like Bob Meyers was actually the only smart guy in that entire front office lol
Done. Knock yourselves out losers.

A game later and kuminga played 10mins and Santos played 16. I literally posted this would happen, just didnt think it would be this quick. Kerr hates kuminga, hes not going to get mins there consistently until they are extremely desperate!

Kuminga left the game with an ankle injury
