[Rumor] Scott Perry refuses to get Klutched, vetoes Zach trade to ATL

I love the idea that we had to "block" a trade of an asset we fully control. We knew agents ran the show, but this puts even more light onto who's actually in power.

Curious why Fox was different? Only thing I can think is said he'd only extend with SA and nobody else
And the front office was in total flux by the midpoint of last season whereas Perry appears to be firmly in control at the present for better or worse.

Huh that’s interesting, this has been mentioned previously but it was sorta presented in a way that Lavine was trying to recruit Trae to Sac type of deal.

So he blocked a player who actually would have helped Sabonis/Murray/Ellis/Carter and would have helped Max and Precious on a team totally devoid of dribbling/play making talent and instead kept Zac who sucks and signed Schroder and Westbrook both who are bad, this is huge L unless the plan was to tank.

I agree but he's still essentially a lateral move that keeps us in the same all offense, no defense situation we've been in for a while.
Not necessarily. I think if the team was torn down and rebuilt that Young could have made a great piece of a new team.. I think the same about Ja Morant though too if he could stay healthy.

After firing Brown the team went on a long win streak, Fox demanded the trade, and the team morale collapsed.

Dealing for Zach was a frickin disaster, but I do think there was possibly reason to believe they could salvage the season and keep building in that moment in time.

Even with 20/20 hindsight it is pretty hard to find a way out of that Detroit game that isn't just stay the course and hope it gets better. What a frickin nightmare. I'm still struggling to believe the Fox-camp driven narrative that it was Domas that destroyed team chemistry and turned on Mike Brown, because Domas never stopped giving 100% in games.

He's yet another player that has a huge weakness that has to be compensated for by his teammates. Atlanta is pretty much rebuilt with a handful of young promising players and they couldn't wait to ship him out. There's a reason for that. They found out that it's difficult to win with the guy. His offense doesn't cover his defense enough for him to be paid like a #1.

When Fox would go literal months where it looked like he was playing at 50%.

The behind the scenes stuff with Domas is hard to really know or verify because what we have access to (the games), Domas is the one guy that never gave up during a game when he was on the floor. I'd be more inclined to believe he was pissed at Fox for coasting when he was supposed to be "Co-stars" and that destroying the relationship.

The LaVine trade at the time, I graded a 5.5/10. Simply because LaVine was playing excellent basketball and tbh, was outperforming Fox last season. I wanted a full rebuild package, but with the understanding that Vivek wouldn't allow it; wasn't a bad option to a guy I thought could pair with Domas on offense perfectly while getting some future picks along with it.

Obviously has become a complete disaster and the team has fallen off a cliff with injuries and just being bad and likely Doug being a bad coach. I just hope Perry can get us on the right track at the deadline in terms of tearing this thing down so we can start game 1 next season as a true rebuild prioritizing the young guys development.

I think that when Domas youngest child arrived he understandably wanted to spend non-game and non-travel days with his family in Napa which may have been a problem. Not everyone in the association has a wife that brings toddlers to courtside seats. In fact given the fact that Recee may be only the second player wife whose name I know shows that the Fox family is really an anomaly. Especially with the amount of time she spent cultivating a twitter army ready to go at the org when the time came.
the other wife name I know is Jackie. Love Doug but not exactly the best connotation there either
