From Melody Gutierrez's Monarch's blog:

"
Lining them up

You saw it here first. The Monarchs' probable starters in Friday's preseason game in Seattle are:

G Chelsea Newton
G Kara Lawson
G Kristin Haynie
C Yolanda Griffith
F Brittany Wilkins

Nicole Powell returned to training camp Thursday along with newcomer Adrian Williams. Ticha Penicheiro and Rebekkah Brunson are expected to return sometime this weekend, and DeMya Walker probably will be back Monday."

Welcome back, Nicky Pow-Pow! I hope you've been teaching Adrian well.

GO MONARCHS!!!

That is an interesting Starting 5.

Tangie is available as a Small Forward. Instead we are going with a 3 guard line up. My guess is that some other folks will be getting the final look before the Ax comes,

Glad to have Nicole Back. And way excited to have Miss Adrian Williams join the posse. Welcome to Sac Adrian.

Um....for about 3 quarters that game was kinda interesting....;) In terms of efficiency, Yo was very Yo like in production per minutes played. Powell had a nice night for just falling off a plane. Kara had a pretty decent game as well. I can get a sense of what they've been saying about Scho and her changed attitude.

Chelsea had a scare, hope she's ok...other than that...get our damn final three back, AW dressed, cut Wells, Batth and Bond then fix some stuff on Sunday and let's get ready for Detroit.

I agree. and don't forget, 8 assists and 0 turnovers at the point. The fourth quarter was a mess though, 16 of 23 turnovers caused by the bench. must be coach trying to assess who to cut. what was the chelsea scare?

Chelsea and Katie Geralds went after a loose ball, and from the radio description of the play, Chelsea got her legs cut from under her and went face first into the floor and sideline seats.

I thought the M's had turnovers at the point, unless Bond was at the 2G spot on the two nearly successive traveling violations she had. You're right tho, the AS/TO ratio from the guards running point last night was for the most part pretty impressive.

That 4th was strange, I'm not entirely sure coach is trying to figure out who to cut, I'm pretty sure she knows. We all kinda have a feeling? Adrian suits up tomorrow so Batth or Wells should be out. Rebekkah and Ticha might dress tomorrow, but I think that's doubtful, but when they are ready to practice that should end Bond's and the other extra post's time. But when Lennox went jack crazy on the C unit and we were down whatever and coach brought back the regular season starters, I got a little nervous. I would have loved to have stolen that game with them on the floor, but not enough to risk someone getting hurt. Powell was about the only player I could see running out there because she needs to get her timing down. But Yo and Kara? Give them the rest of the night off. Let the folks whose last minutes in the Monarchs colors are winding down finish up.

We did have TO's at the point. the 8 to 0 assist to turnover ratio was only for Haynie. thought it was impressive since she usually has a few TOs. I hope this is a sign that she is beginning to mature and hope she continues to do so.

I do too....if she's matured it makes this team even better. I made the remark during the game that if Haynie was putting up the numbers she was assist wise and overall from an efficiency standpoint, Ticha will also go nuts in this new system. The thought of that makes me downright :)
