--All-Star candidate: Tyreke Evans. The Wizards' Wall has to hope he doesn't follow this guy's career path: Serious All-Star candidate as a rookie, a complete nonentity despite solid numbers in Year 2.

--Even before pulling a Monday night upset in Portland, the Kings were losing but competing. Tyreke Evans looks like Tyreke Evans again, Omri Casspi is firing away from beyond the arc and DeMarcus Cousins is making a few wow plays. It's too late for this season, but there are some pieces in place.

--The Kings have lost four straight by four points or fewer in overtime, and it hasn't been pretty. This week, they led the Hawks by nine to start the fourth quarter, led the Blazers by seven with less than six minutes left, and led the Warriors by nine with three minutes to go.

--The Kings followed their big win at MSG with four straight narrow defeats, including the last two in OT. The solace: January Tyreke (19.4 ppg, 6.7 apg, 44.4 percent shooting) finally looks a little more like ROY Tyreke.

I can see the Kings moving into the low 20's next week. They have dramatically improved their execution and defense. Hopefully they will continue to improve and climb up the rankings. Like the Fox Sports ranking says: " It's too late for this season, but there are some pieces in place." This is exactly where the Kings organization was looking to be this season as they prepare for their playoff push next year. You could not ask for a better performance from the young squad they have playing. With a coupla free agent pieces, and another good draft pick, the Kings are certainly on the road to respectability.

That was the quote I read that inspired me to post these. Our competitive season is basically over, all the Kings are really playing for at this point are Power Rankings :-)
