--Even before pulling a Monday night upset in Portland, the Kings were losing but competing. Tyreke Evans looks like Tyreke Evans again, Omri Casspi is firing away from beyond the arc and DeMarcus Cousins is making a few wow plays. It's too late for this season, but there are some pieces in place.

--The Kings have lost four straight by four points or fewer in overtime, and it hasn't been pretty. This week, they led the Hawks by nine to start the fourth quarter, led the Blazers by seven with less than six minutes left, and led the Warriors by nine with three minutes to go.

--The Kings followed their big win at MSG with four straight narrow defeats, including the last two in OT. The solace: January Tyreke (19.4 ppg, 6.7 apg, 44.4 percent shooting) finally looks a little more like ROY Tyreke.
