Powell and Scott homecoming

We presume all of you saw today's SacBee article - but - no-one has mentioned it.....

How many more Cardinal fans will be purchasing season tickets now that there is a strong Cardinal representation among the Monarchs?

Hope we get some first hand reports from Training Camp. The competition must be furious eventhough everyone hasn't reported yet.

"For Nicole Powell and Olympia Scott, the trade that brought them to Sacramento meant more than joining a new team. They're home.
Both former stars at Stanford, Powell and Scott are overjoyed to be back in Northern California as Monarchs.

"I wanted to come to Sacramento in the first place," said Powell, the No. 3 overall pick in last year's college draft. "It's better late than never."
Said Scott, "I'm a California native, but I haven't lived here since '98 when I graduated. I'm very happy to be back."............."

I did see that article, and forgot to post it...

It's interesting though.....Let's just hope these Stanford alumni don't succumb to the Monarchs curse......(Starbird & Stedding.......although that could also be a "Kate" thing too....;) )

I think Powell has the ability to surpass the KS "curse", she's just too darn talented. If her name was Knicole Spowell I might be more worried... ;)

I read that article yesterday and was so fired up, I'm ready for the season to start just to take a look at everybody. Olympia Scott I am actually very excited about too, I just don't think we're going to be hurting in the paint with her here. And with Powell feeling like she has the tools to contribute...it should be all good.

Relatedly, did anybody see the article today on Chantelle? Sounds like she's dropped the weight she put on her rookie year plus some, and she too is feeling rejuvenated and ready to play like she's capable of playing. It just keeps getting better.

I'm not sure we had that much of a boost in attendance the night Powell came to town last year. Although I did see the Stanford basketball team was hanging around the lower level floor seats after that game. I know Jen Azzi traveled a lot of family and friends, because I usually ended up sitting next to them.
