Postgame Quotes-vs. Memphis

Chris Webber
On being able to make more athletic dunks today:
“What was more impressive to me was a lay-up I made off of one leg, and I had to turn to make it. Jumping off two legs—I’m pretty close to getting the height I used to get, maybe not as easily, but close to the height. Tonight I felt good and I just hope I keeps feeling better.”

On being the go-to-guy tonight:
“That’s the way our team was built with me and Peja. We have everybody that can step up that’s the great thing about us. But in most situations, it’s going to be me and Peja. I like the fact that I’m feeling much, much, much more confident and much more aggressive, and my whole body is feeling better. It’s nice to know that it’s not your body, because when it happens for so long, it can become mental.”

“I had guys on the bench, as well as Mike and Doug getting in my ear and telling me to stay in control, and that’s what I like to do. Fortunately tonight, it felt good.”

On the Indiana-Detroit fight:
“I know there’s been some bad blood between Detroit and Indiana from when I was there. It’s crazy and uncalled for, but it happened.”

“I let Shaq throw a punch at me, but I’ve never been in anything like that with fans.”

Memphis Grizzlies

Head Coach Hubie Brown
“We had a six-point lead with five minutes and 14 seconds to go and we went 3-for-14 with six turnovers. I don’t think it had anything to do with being tired because we had all the opportunities in the world. Unfortunately for us, we couldn’t get it done.”

The one that got away?
“This is three road loses that could’ve been victories like at Houston, Seattle, and here (Sacramento). All three games we were ahead. Here we went 3-for-14 in the last five minutes and 12 seconds. I don’t care who your playing, you can’t win the game like that.”

“Chris Webber did a great job down the stretch. He had 10 or 12 points and ended up with a big night. Our turnovers were our down fall again tonight.”

Shane Battier
“It was a fun game with a lot of offense and a lot of good plays being made, but unfortunately they made the basketball plays down the stretch.”

“We did a nice job turning the pressure up, but unfortunately we had the turnovers. We really put the pressure on them defensively and down the stretch we just didn’t get the shots.”

“It’s disappointing in the fact that we are not as bad as our record indicates. We’ve been in some tough games and we could very easily have a better record. We’re not worried because we know we’ll win our fair share of games. When we get it rolling we’ll really get it rolling.”

Stromile Swift
“We just have to come out and play four quarters and just finish at the end. The defense just fell apart and they hit shots, while we didn’t respond. I think it’s going to come together for us, we just have to keep working and gotta believe. Last year we believed and didn’t give up. In the fourth quarter we just seemed to give up easy baskets.”

If Shaq throws a punch at you, there probably isn't much you can do to stop it Brad.
Yeah, I don't get what he's saying...does it mean he had the choice and he decided to let Shaq throw the punch??? My vote is to not get punched by Shaq.

Are you sure about this? Imagine some 'teen years after that you would be saying to your grand kids - "I remember I let Shaq puch me. That was fun!"

:D

I think he meant that he let Shaq throw a punch at him but he didn't punch back.

It's a damn good thing that punch didn't land, or else we'd be comparing Shaq to Kermit Washington and Brad Miller to Rudy Tomjanovich...

...or worse.
