Postgame Quotes-vs. Memphis

Kings Coach Rick Adelman
“It was a terrific win. That’s a good team we played – they’ve been struggling recently but they’ve been playing a lot of good teams. They made the run at us and we were able to respond. Obviously Brad (Miller) hit the two huge three’s. We did a nice job offensively on them. That’s a team who’s one of the better teams as far as giving up points and field goal percentage. We shot 56 percent so we were doing some good things out there. That’s the type of win you need if you are going to keep something going and get on a roll here. Hopefully we can build on Thursday.”

"(Brad) was terrific. Both of those shots looked good for a guy with a broken thumb. I just thought that there were so many people that played well. Kenny (Thomas) did a tremendous job on (Pau) Gasol. He stayed in front of him and he made him take tough shots. Ron (Artest) and Francisco (Garcia) really chased (Mike) Miller around tonight and they really stayed with him. I think Francisco learned a lesson from last time we played those guys and what he had to do with them. It was a great win. Bobby (Jackson) got hot and made those shots. You have to give him credit because he brought them back.”

“(Bobby) had two points at halftime. Like I said, he can go forward at any time. He finally did us a favor and missed the last two three’s. Maybe we tired him out. It was just a really good win to get. It has to help our confidence and make us realize that we can be a good team if we keep playing the way we’re playing.”

Kevin Martin
“I’m going to be efficient. I don’t need 15 or 20 shots to get 20 [points]. We’re moving the ball much better now, and if I get an open shot I’m going to take it. I think right now I’m just letting [the game] come to me. Just like you said, I only took eight shots so as long as I’m hitting them, I’m all right. I’m still coming in a couple hours before the game, same thing as last year and doing all the work and talking to the coach on the sideline. I take the game much more serious than I did last year so I get game film after every game.”

On Bobby Jackson:
“Yeah it was nice. He helped me out a lot this summer. Yeah, he got a little hot in the end. I’m glad he didn’t hit a couple more shots.”

“(Brad) had a big night. I think [Memphis] made him mad because they hit his sore hand a couple of times. He was giving the fans high-fives, that was pretty nice.”

Brad Miller
“I got into a groove in the fourth (quarter). My recruit (Brian Cardinal at Purdue University) kept on slapping my [darn] thumb so he kind of got me pissed off there. It kind of brings out a different aspect of me. I didn’t think I [fouled out at the end]. I didn’t know what the call was. Obviously, the [referees] have never watched Purdue basketball with (Brian) Cardinal. He is the best flopper, and Shane Battier as well. We know him at Duke. He was just more publicly addressed than Cardinal, but he’s definitely right up there.”

Mike Bibby
“It was good. He got hot for a little bit, so I was hoping he wouldn’t pull it out.”

“Brad’s tough sometimes. He kept fighting. He hit the shots when we needed and that’s all that matters. Two big shots. He usually doesn’t celebrate like that. I tried to teach him.”

MEMPHIS GRIZZLIES

Memphis Grizzlies Head Coach Mike Fratello:
“We had a chance down the stretch. At least we came back and gave ourselves a chance to win it. Unfortunately we had a critical turnover, so we didn’t give ourselves a chance to shoot the basketball. (Brad) Miller hit a couple of big shots for them and after that it’s the end of the game. Our problems were that they shot the ball very well tonight, they shot around 57%. The uncontested shots are the ones that I am concerned about. The shots that we give up and have people standing around on defense. We can’t give them those kinds of wide-open looks, because they are a good shooting team. The effort was good down the stretch in the second half. I am proud of them for that; unfortunately we fell a little short. We did come back and we had a chance. The first quarter put us into a hole, but we worked our way back into it and got the score even. The key is to hold on from there.”

Pau Gasol:
“This is hard for us because it seems like the luck is not on our side. We have had too many losses recently. We are right there at the end and fight our way back, but the other team makes big plays. It’s tough because we are working hard and working to win and we are not getting the wins. It’s unfortunate but that is the way it is. Hopefully, we are going to keep the fighting spirit and the desire to win alive. We have a tough schedule coming up, and we just need to keep our minds focused. It is on us to stay positive and stay focused and keep a good attitude. We have to try and get out of this rut. We need to win a few games in a row and get back that confidence we need to play with.”

Bobby Jackson:
“It meant a lot to come back here and get the reception that I did. It was great to come back but I would rather get the win; that’s just the competitor in me. I wanted to come out and play well and make the game interesting. Brad (Miller) hit some big shots. We battled back but we need to find some way to get this thing turned around. I was (ticked) off to be sitting on the bench during the first half, but that is the coach’s decision. I will always stay with it no matter how many minutes I am playing. When I get out on the floor I am going to try and make things happen.”
