Postgame Quotes-at Washington

March 5, 2006

Kings Coach Rick Adelman
“We knew that (Arena) was going to come out and play hard, he is a great player and he is very quick. Jamison carried the first half and he carried the second half.”

“When you are on the road and playing a team that has played well at home all year long -- and they need a win -- it is tough. We just didn’t do enough to give ourselves a chance to win. We got it down to a six-point deficit, but just couldn’t get over the hump from there.”

On Bonzi Wells:
“He did fine. He played a little more extended minutes and got tired I think, but if you look at the way he played, I think he did a good job. It is going to be a process with him. He has to keep pushing it, and his conditioning and timing will probably be the key.”

Ron Artest
“The defensive intensity wasn’t there. We slacked a little bit. We started to get relaxed a little bit, then we started to get it back late and played better. We made a lot of little mistakes and we will make up for those little mistakes tomorrow.”

“When you play against teams like Washington, you can not have too many mistakes. Tonight we made too many mistakes. We will get it back. We will address it.”

“Early on we couldn’t get it going, so I stepped up my play. I am starting to feel better. My jumper is better than it was a couple of years ago so that helps me get it going. It is important that I still post up though.

WASHINGTON WIZARDS

Head Coach Eddie Jordan:
“That was a quality opponent there. They are not quite in the playoffs in the Western Conference standings, but they’ve won two in a row on the road, they’ve played very well with Artest in the lineup and I respect that coaching staff a great deal. That’s a good team.”

“I’ll take wins anytime. I don’t look at the standings right now. I’ll look at that after 82 games or when we are mathematically in (the playoffs). But certainly we want to get it going with a win, and that win can get us going.”

“Caron was one of the few guys who really got into it, as far as intensity and defensively into Artest, getting into some passing lanes, getting some deflections and steals, and playing physically. He took a challenge defensively first and it opened up his offense. He was focused at both ends of the floor.”

Caron Butler
“Brad Miller cut to the basket and raised his elbow up and ended up hitting me in the face. It seems recently I just can’t win with these injuries, but I’m glad we got the win tonight and that makes my body feel better.”

On his ankle injury:
“It’s still bothering me a lot, but Coach wanted to keep me out there to keep it loose. I put some heat on it after the game and hopefully it will not bother me tomorrow.”

“It’s crazy in the East because we are all one game away from being in the four spot or two games away from being in the fifth spot. It’s important that we win these games at home and show up on the road with a lot of energy.”

You know what it sounds like? It sounds like Jack Bauer...

"We WILL make up for those little mistakes tomorrow."
