Outstanding Road Trip!!! (Merged)

Interestingly, the Kings have a shot at the 5th best record in the conference, but the stupid rule that the division champs get the top 3 seeds is getting in the way of that possibility. What a dumb rule. That needs to change.

Yeah, we have some tough teams coning up, but I think ARCO is going to be rocking - great road trip guys!

I like Bibby's quote from ESPN's game summary:

"We need every game from here on out," Bibby said. "We're trying to put together a couple of strings, win nine out of 10, to see what we can do and make a run for the playoffs."

Now THAT'S what I want to hear!

It seems as though we finally may have the right pieces for the puzzle. God Bless Geoff Petrie.

;)

I will be the first to admit that when we were losing I was calling out RA and wondering if getting a new coach in here might help the team. When I look back now it seems I really am not the general manager that I thought I was. Players play the game. Players need the chemistry and I think they just didn't have that with Peja here. RA hasn't changed his style since Ron got here, it's just the whole team being more confident now.

Yah this team is playing AMAZING together. The right pieces indeed. I think we have the right rotation as well and can go 8 deep on a nightly basis.

Bibby - One of the best scoring point guards in the league.
Martin - Our young, athletic, energetic 2guard of the future (and he can ball!)
Artest - Defensive stopper like Christie was and better!
Thomas - Our rebounding machine.
Miller - keeping the opposing centers outside

SAR - The average starter that turned into the super stud off the bench.
Wells - See above. Defensive, rebounding, hustle player off the bench which we were missing at the start of the year.
Garcia - Defensive, athletic, scoring, ball handling guy off the bench.

This team of 8 can match any team, and when they are gelling like they are right now I don't think they can be beat. Give them another 20 games and they will be tough for any team come playoff time.

while i find your assessment to be a tad too optimistic, i agree with the sentiment. this team is at least 8 deep, and the rotation has finally cemented itself, it seems.

thomas has turned it up as a starter in the second half of this season, and while i'm still not ready to jump on his bandwagon just yet, i do think we can compete in the playoffs if he sustains his current energy level (though i'm still not certain he's our long-term answer at the starting PF).

as for SAR, he is the sixth man i want. while you typically want your super sixth man to be a sparkplug energy type of guy, i really like the idea of bringing SAR off the bench to crush the bencher PF's of the league. while he's had a coupla off-games so far this road trip, i think he's been at his most effective coming off the bench. and the wins don't lie, regardless of what teams they're coming against.

kevin and cisco are both coming into their own. i didn't think it would happen so soon for either, but both have been thrust into the thick of things because of injuries and poor play, and they have risen to the occasion. i've been mightily impressed with both of them, and i think their energy will be a factor in the playoffs. the playoff inexperience will hurt them a bit, as they are still prone to making stupid mistakes, but i think youth will triumph when the veteran legs begin to tire.

brad's had his ups and downs this season, but he's someone you can pretty much always count on to be efficient. his rebounding must improve between now and the playoffs, and he needs to be more assertive. if not by taking more shots, then by demanding the ball so he can play director of traffic, which he does so well. his experience will be an asset in the playoffs, no doubt.

on to mike bibby. mr clutch. i don't care about all the criticisms of bibby. even when he doesn't come through like we thought he might, he's always risen to the occasion. he wants to take the big shots. his assists have gone up recently, and his shooting touch is starting to sizzle a bit again. like brad, his experience will be vital come playoff time, and his desire to win--to take the big shot--is his greatest asset.

and i don't even need to discuss ron artest. tonight's game was a shoot-out, so he seemed much less effective than normal, but in the playoffs, when defenses tighten up, ron artest is gonna be the kings ace in the hole.

so, individual, quick assessments, aside, this is a team with the potential to win in the playoffs. unfortunately, it's a team that has taken a while (with the help of a big change) to come into its own, so it's gonna have to go up against some difficult opponents early on if they do make the playoffs. but it will be exciting regardless. go kings!

i'm so proud of the kings!!! this was exactly the kind of road trip they needed!

keep it up kings!!!! we gotta make it to the playoffs!!!!!

WE CAN DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!

Does this mean your opinion has modified somewhat about the coach?

Agreed. They are playing much better (obviously), but there are still areas that need improvement, starting with execution late in the game. Tonight got ugly in the 4th for a while, with the team not executing very well. I think more games and practice will help.

There are times the movement slows down or stops - we cannot play that way. People need to be cutting and running off screens when the defense tightens up, and they still seem to forget to do that at times.

Should the Kings make the playoffs then they are going to be one scary team that will present problems for their first round opponent. Although unlikely, it's not out of the question that the Kings jump up and nab the 6th spot. How sweet would that be? Playing Denver or Utah in the first round rather than SA or PHX. I know I'm getting a bit ahead of myself, but this game Friday against Memphis is HUGE! Also, 4 of their last 5 of the season are at ARCO.

Whoever's going to be our opponent on MARCH 14 will be crushed surely.

Gotta be stoked with 4-1 :D

Time to secure that play-off spot. The Kings are becoming a feared team again :D

Agreed! Slowly but surely. We are regaining the reign once again!

Nice road trip indeed, these next 3 home games are big, I'm sure the fans at ARCO will be extremely pleased with what we did in the 5 game road trip and show it. Gaining ground on Memphis will be big too, I want to see the Kings get back to .500! Go Kings!

Winning cures the blues.

My sig a couple months ago was basically saying for the team to do something.. Fire Adleman, trade a core player, shake things up.. SOMETHING!! Which they did, and now they are all playing well again.

The sad part is that when I had said I was pissed because the guys were playing like scrubs, and well below their own talent level I was pretty much right on the nail. One guy shouldn't make such a difference, but alas it did. Seems like they are playing up to their level, and I am happy, yet kinda mad at the same time because they threw away 60% of the season with subpar play.
