I get the impression he isn't familiar enough with Youngman to know that his articles always reek of OC biased BS. But either way, you don't read it on the ******* air.
It's fine that he reads this on the air. It will motivate Sac businesses and politicians even more. It's fine. We're good with public support in Sac, and I'm pretty sure Amick and Simmons are the ones that shaped the rest of the country's opinion.
I do wonder though who is giving up their minority interest? Or is he buying part of the Maloofs?!! In that case who is the managing owner!? What is the collateral for the mountain of loans Samueli is giving the Maloofs?! The franchise?!
And a horrible misuse of language:
"Samueli also has agreed to purchase a minority interest in the Kings. That, presumably, is millions more in revenue for the Maloofs."
Selling part of the team is not revenue. Revenue is income generated by an asset. Selling part of the asset is not revenue. Totally wrong word.
All in all it's not a bad article. Totally biased of course, but not too "inaccurate". There are of course dubious claims, such as "three times the corporate support" which are 1. clearly misleading and 2. unprovable and literally could just be coming from... you guessed it... Samueli owned companies. Yay it's 30 million worth of TV commercials for Broadcom telecast on his own station. Seriously the way the article is worded this is literally what it could be. It doesn't even say direct support of the team.
And the TV contract could literally be made to be worth 50 mil per year if they wanted to, just add the stipulation that part of it's got to go directly back to paying Samueli on relo/personal loan... there is so much shadiness around this that the NBA didn't even bother to visit. They literally phoned it in!
You can bet each of the owners who will be voting will be THOROUGHLY briefed on the "deal" Samueli is maneuvering. Whether or not they want to pave the way for him to join their club will be their call... or pave the way for Burkle.
At this point I firmly believe this is a battle between Burkle and Samueli as much as it is between two cities.
