[Non Monarchs]Maya Moore people....seriously

Ok, I confess...ever since I saw her on television last December playing in a high school tournament , I've contemplated ever so slightly changing my screen name to Maya'sBiggestFan...;) ok, maybe not that drastic, but color me a fan nonetheless...I watched her that day nearly drop 50 ridiculous points on another high nationally ranked high school team from Delaware...the only reason she didn't was because she fouled out. National High School Player of the Year....now, she's coming off the bench for UConn

She played 19 minutes tonight against Holy Cross and went for 31 pts. She only missed two shots, one in each half and the one in the first half was an "naw, I changed my mind, I'm not in the mood to dunk" layup off a steal. Consider this stat line....

31pts/5rebs/4stls/4blks....in 19 minutes...

This followed up her regular season debut against Stony Brook a few days ago going 20pts/10rebs/4asst/4stls/2blk in 20 minutes.

Keep an eye out for her....seriously....she's straight up freak.....

Meant to bring this over earlier....

UConn Freshman All That And Moore

HARTFORD, Conn. -- The other George Bush occupied the White House the last time a group of seniors played their final game for the University of Connecticut women's basketball team without ever having participated in a Final Four. On paper, this year's team appears to have the depth and talent to avoid sending the current quartet of seniors out the same way. But in terms of translating printed potential into real success, the second-ranked Huskies might end up wanting to take a page from a freshman. (more)

Well...it appears we may get an opportunity to see Ms. Moore in person at some point before she graduates...UConn and Stanford are in the final stages of negotiating a two year home-home series to begin in the 2009-2010 season. If Stanford extends its series with Tenn, that will make for a fantasitc out of conference schedule for the Cardinal...shoot, if they also bring Rutgers out every once in a while? NICE.

Meant to bring this over earlier, like when it first aired.....now you have to dig around the site to see it.

Anyway, since dunking is cool and all...here is some video shot after a UConn practice of Moore and her teammate Tina Charles having a dunk-a-thon.

http://www.courant.com/sports/college/husky/women/

(There is a video player mid page, click through the archive until you get to a clip "UConn Women's Basketball - 1/29" and watch...Moore is the shorter of the two, as in 6'1" "short" and the one not needing stutter steps shorter of the two.

Seriously.....Maya Moore people...
