Nice win for team USA...hey MBF are you taping any of these games?
IF so lets include them on our list of games to watch;)
Nice game for Parker & Taurasi. Our Lawson got in the books.
Looks like minutes are gonna be tough to earn. I saw Cash didn't get in, was she injured?

Look forward to seeing them play live. GO USA!

Had to leave to go to class, so I didn't get to see the end live. From what I saw, the US looked lethargic, though. Thankfully, there isn't any real competition in this tournament, or I'd be worried. I must say I liked when Brunson and Parker were on the floor together; good high-low post offense.

I had EVERY intention of recording the game today.....but....got sidetracked this weekend and didn't get to do what I needed to do to clear space on my Tivo. I'll give it another shot tonight.

Huh...Parker and Brunson worked well together? We may need to reunite them in April ;) I also wanted to get another look at Plutin from Cuba, I liked her when I saw her play in the Worlds last year and it appeared she had another good game today.

K-Law had 11 points...very solid. Thanks MBF cuz it looks like I won't be able watch any of these games on NBA TV & because of my work schedule.

You may be right Steven about Swin being injured in the finals.

Man, I'm just now getting a chance to see the game...Kym Hampton's commentary is brutal but honest :) (If I handle the transfers properly and timely, I should be able to grab the entire series minus the Cuba game NBH)

115-47 was today's final. Tomorrow, team USA faces team Canada 1pm PDT.

I don't know what is supposed to be on...and when. But, I haven't got to see any of the games. However, USA vs Argentina is on now on NBATV. Started at 1:30 Pacific.

Hurray!!!!

I'm really really enjoying watching our girls. There is some GREAT talent there. Half-time lead...USA 56-15. Their defense is just fantastic.

Taj is doing color commentary. Gotta love her. She is really high on Bekkah. Has nothing but good to say about her rebounding, athleticism, and defense. One comment she made was, "There is no one on this Argentina team that can keep up with Brunson."

Another Taj quote, "Brunson is an unsung hero...not only for this USA team, but for the Sacramento Monarchs, as well."

:)

Now they are loving on Kara Lawson. Taj says, "Kara is my television and radio idol as a broadcaster. She has such a knowledge of the game. I just love listening to her. She really does her homework..."

Game over. Final Score: 104-53. I'm waiting for stats, but I'm pretty sure that our Bekkah was high scorer. She had about 20 pts in as many minutes. :D

By God, that team is stacked: two star-level collegiate players, one of whom has won a National Championship, and ten current and/or former WNBA All-Stars, nine of whom ( ) are reigning and/or former WNBA Champions.

I'm watching the game on DVR right now, but so far my early candidate for play of the game was at the 2:45 mark in the first, when Parker got the steal, handed it off to Lawson, who made the cross-court heave to Taurasi, who gave it up to Milton-Jones on the bounce pass, who made the no-look to a cutting Augustus for the layup; that was outstanding!

EDIT - Oops... Sorry, Lawson, not Bird.

"[Team USA] gave up nine points in the first quarter... and, right now, that's looking like an offensive barrage from Argentina..."

Damn, baby, that's cold... :D

McWilliams-Franklin is cracking me up right now... with less than two minutes to go in the half, Argentina finally scores their first two field goals of the half...

TMF: USA can't afford a meltdown.

Hah! She's like the Lou Holtz of women's basketball...

Hehehehe! Taj was certainly funny, but she was looking ahead to tomorrow. The meltdown was about keeping up the defense for tomorrow's final, I think. That's what I got out of it.

About the play you mentioned in your first post for today.......that was fantastic. I did not see a better play than that, although there were a couple of nice pass plays where everyone touched the ball and had Argentina just flat-footed.

Anyone watching the other semi-final game between Brazil and Cuba?

Brazil may be favored, but Cuba is giving them a fight. Brazil leads 21-19 about half-way through the 2nd qtr.

Well, my TV is permanently set to NBA TV unless I'm actually watching something else, so I'm "kinda" watching it. I'm not really paying attention, though; too busy puttering around on my laptop. Besides which, I haven't finished watching the second half of the first game.

Brazil with a 31-24 lead at half-time. While Cuba will make Brazil earn a spot against the USA in the finals, I don't see them beating them out.

BTW - tomorrow's FIBA Americas Championship for Women's final's game is at 4:00 Eastern (yep, 1:00 Pacific Time) on NBATV.

Thanks for the game recaps...thats awesome that our Monarchs
are receiving such praise...it's so exciting that we have players
on team USA. What an honor it must be.

Unbelievable!! Cuba turned their half-time deficit into a 9 pt lead to end the 3rd qtr. Should be an exciting 4th qtr as both teams battle for the right to face the USA in tomorrow's final.

Brazil has pulled within 1 and is about to go to the FT line to try and take the lead back from Cuba. Only seconds left in the game. Looks to be an exciting finish.

2 missed FT's by Brazil, but they get the rebound. Then they missed a 3 and Cuba gets the ball with 7.4 seconds left and a 1 pt lead.

Cuba has upset Brazil. They will face the USA for a chance to go to Bejiing. Considering they fought hard against the US team earlier in the tournament and almost upset them, this shapes up to be a fantastic final.

Don't miss it.

I just wanted to post Rebekkah's stats for today's game. She made us proud.

20 pts, 6 rebs, 1 ast, 3 stls in 18 minutes of play.

WTG - Bekkah!!! :)

And, btw...Candace had 17 pts, 5 rebs, 1 ast, 5 stls in 16 minutes. I want that girl. Then again, who doesn't?

Wooooo... I discovered that I had set Tivo to record the replays not not the live airings...so I did eventually get these games. (phew)...I haven't had a chance to actually watch Cuba Brazil yet, but

With Brazil getting knocked out...does that mean Seattle could lose Marques in June or the season. If they lost to Team USA they'd have to go through the June Qualifier anyway, but I'm not sure they expected to not finish 2nd.

Team USA just needs to watch the video of their meeting with Cuba last year, and perhaps try not sleepwalking through a game.
