New WNBA uniform designs in 2007

For those who have not yet heard, the WNBA team uniforms and warm-up clothing will undergo a change this year.

Personally, I don't much care for the new look. But I suppose it will take some time getting used to them. I am also not used to seeing the players' names underneath their uniform number.

I really don't like the horizontal stripes on the new Washington Mystics unis! It reminds me of Linus' shirt (from the Peanuts comic strip) or an old-time prison garb!

I see that the Phoenix Mercury is moving away from their bright orange road uniforms and going with purple, just like our Monarchs. Frigging copycatters!

Interesting how the League's using the side panels to accent each team. I'm not sure about the Monarch's 'lace' sides and some of the other 'wallpaper' styles. My favorites are those that emphasize one element like the Shock's zigzag bolt.

Guess they wanted to make the WNBA unis look less like junior versions of the NBA's.

I haven't looked at all of the designs, but I'd tend to side with you George, that the single element makes the most aesthetic sense and I'm not sure what the relationship is between the Monarchs' element is to their logo. I could handle butterflies or even crowns for that matter and at least understood what they were signifying more so than the wallpaper motif. Some of them, notably ours, just look busy.

I think they've already decided to place the names over the numbers. I read that on Rebkell's webpage.

I, too, would rather see some relevant design on the sides -- those little Monarch heads are cool.

I like busy Maybe I'm the only one that likes them so far.
The crowns would be cool. The only one that has the team concept are the Stars on the Silverstars & the Sparks have some sort of sparkles.
Just the same can't wait to get one! I don't like the Mercury's new color...very bright.

I've always wanted an authentic jersey, they now have them signed for $300!
What doesn't make sense is one size only? What's that all about?

I don't hate all of the new jerseys... but I do hate ours. That "tribal design" crap on the side is ugly. I think we have the worst side panel design of the league. I do like the new cut of the jersey though, with the thin straps and tucked in style. The jerseys for the Sky, Liberty, and Lynx look like the best to me. The Fever and the Shock aren't bad. The rest? Ugh..

I'm guessing Yolanda isn't a fan either after reading the blog update on sacbee.com today...

Curious what Monarchs veteran Yolanda Griffith thinks about the new threads? Here's a hint: "cheap" and "ugly." Ouch.

Received e-mail today to meet the players & to be the first to purchase the new jersey's you all seem to love May 8th 6pm Arco arena.
The players will be showing off the new jerseys & there will be a chance for autographs.

Okay, I have to agree with 6th, at least at the moment...

I hope one of you who attends the get-together on May 8 will get a couple of pictures of some of the Monarchs players wearing the jerseys as those artist renderings can't be accurate.

Despite the fact that I actually own video equipment, I rarely manage to roll with them so I have no pictures. I gotta say tho, having seen Kara and Yo in the new unis...I will take a page from coach B and say they are flattering. As someone who HATED the change to untucked jerseys, I like these at lot better. The side panel design...eh...it at least made sense close up, I'm still not won over completely by it.

What can I say....I'm ready! The jerseys looked really cool on the players.
Kara did mention she liked these because you can tuck them in. The white jerseys are not as busy. Just the same had to have my purple!
