I think this is a dumb move for the future of the Kings in Sacramento. Sure, I want new owners just as much as the next, but the time of this is miserable.

This article (along with the one yesterday about the arena in disrepair) further show the Maloof's inability to run a franchise. They are looking worse and losing power by the day. Considering the fact that they are asking for permission to blow up the arena deal, I think it's a very good thing.

Maloofs respond to criticism of Sacramento business leaders

The Maloof family said this morning they were "saddened and disappointed" by criticism launched their way by local business leaders who are asking the NBA to find new ownership for the Sacramento Kings.

Minutes after a dozen business leaders released a letter urging the NBA to force the Maloofs to sell the Kings, the family sent out a statement saying they "share in the community's frustration on forging a workable agreement on what it is ultimately a $400 million transaction that will impact the region for many years to come."

I disagree. It clearly states that they want the arena here in Sacramento but they don't think MSE is a viable partner in doing so. It covers reasons why, including not acting in good faith and financial resources. This letter didn't need to be 20 pages with details and footnotes, it just transmits the general feeling of the local business community. And that is important.

Now, it should have the names of who signed below the signatures. I find that to be discouraging. I want to know who all these folks are so I can frequent their businesses.
