Since the Nets are on the market for a PF, it's too bad Petrie couldn't pull a Jedi mind trick to send them Thomas with Hart for Collins and McInnis.

The Nets have been fairly active in pursuit of their own deals, but all signs are they're coming up empty for three reasons: Richard Jefferson's condition makes him untradable, the rookie salary ($1.1 million) pulled down by Marcus Williams -- who everyone has their eye on -- doesn't exactly bring much back in trade, and luxury tax considerations.
Still, the Nets recently called Chicago to inquire about P.J. Brown, who has been upset with his lack of playing time lately. The phone call was short, however, because the Bulls weren't interested in taking back what the Nets had to offer (Jason Collins, Jeff McInnis). They have also made inquiries about Pau Gasol of Memphis -- who is untouchable until they make an ownership deal -- and Rashard Lewis of Seattle, who would be a risky acquisition because he could opt out of his contract in June.
