Walker returns to Celtics in shocker

By Chad Ford
ESPN.com

The Hawks Thursday sent Antoine Walker back to the Celtics in return for Gary Payton, Michael Stewart and Tom Gugliotta, league sources told ESPN Insider Chad Ford.

Walker is averaging 20.4 points in over 40 minutes a game this season. He played for the Celtics from 1996 to 2003.

Payton, who reluctantly came to the Celtics in a summer trade from the Lakers, reportedly was in talks with the Celtics about a contract extension. Payton is eligible to become a free agent after this season. Payton, in his 15th season in the NBA, has started all 54 games this season for the Celtics averaging 32.8 minutes a game.

The Baron Davis trade is pretty much official.

Dale Davis, Speedy Claxton, first round pick this year, and cash.

Ugh....Webbhead and Baron swapped. My two favorite players traded on the same day. What a horrible day.

now the BADlantic division just got a hell of a lot more interesting...

quite frankly AW should have never left Boston...him and Paul were a good tandem...Boston and Philly are really gonna battle now for that top spot...and im sure NJ will be up in the mix a bit since JKidd has gotten healthier and VC has been ballin

im happy for AW and im happy for Celtics fans everywhere

Mike James is a steal, pit-bull type defender and he can hit a three and handle the ball well. Houston has done a good job of making little deals to give McGrady and Yao a workable supporting cast that wasn't there back in October.
