nba top 5 so far

Those ARE the top 5, but I would switch the order in a couple of places.

Pistons
Spurs
Heat
Mavs
Clips

We've seen the Mavs bust out with good records before, but they can't handle Duncan or Shaq. Heat are on a roll now with Shaq back and Riley at the helm.

They never played D before...

They've handled Duncan just fine so far this year, and every single game the Mavs have played this year has been with atleast one of their key players injured. I'm rather impressed by my Mavs.

Here's my top 5:
1. Detroit
2. San Antonio - this is just another typical slow start for the Spurs, losing games they shouldn't...etc...still ahead of the Mavs in my opinion
3. Mavs
4. Heat
5. Suns (I put the Suns ahead of the Clippers right now - look how well they're playing without Amare...)

Pistons-best team in the league right now. Chauncy having MVP year.

Spurs-Second best team. Parker is really having a strong year. Ginobili still out so we have yet to see them at full strength. Duncan seems to be slowing down some.

Miami-Pat Riley back. Team is playing much harder. Any team with Shaq is in contention. Career whiners in Payton, Williams, and Fatione doesn't seem likely to help Miami past the Pistons. The three stooges may actually prove fatal to Miami's chances at a title.

Indiana-Not favorties to win the title but tough scrappy team that will give anybody trouble. Very capable of knocking off a top seed even without Artest. Maybe a better team after the trade.

My fifth team (I'm biased) is the Lakers. Phil Jackson is proving why he is arguably the best coach of all time. Getting maximum production from guys like Smush, Vujacic, Mihm, Cook, George, and Kobe. Big time underdogs that will fly under the radar. Teams overlooking them will pay a price. Lakers have shown for stretches that they can hang with anyone. Very young and inexperienced though but look for them to upset a team like Denver, Dallas, or Phoenix.

Dallas-Good team but not great. Dirk is not fierce, kinda soft. Dampier is a big liability in the middle. Pretenders. I would take Houston ahead of Dallas. Look for Houston to surge. Yao Ming is out with toe surgery though so playing for the Chinese National team has taken it's tole on Yao's health and development. Will be a dog fight between Denver and Houston maybe for final spot.

You might want to think about re-evaluating at least one of those teams.

;)

Way ambitious, but well-meaning. ;) They've been playing well of late, but still show flashes of that old inconsistency and scoring droughts. With a loss like the one against Houston, we're immediately thrown back into fear and loathing in Los Angeles. They have to probably keep winning for another month to prove they can challenge a playoff team over 6-7 straight playoff games (similar to how most fans kept viewing last year's Sonics, wondering if they were for real until March).

Plus, if we make the playoffs and face SA, it's a quick killing. If they're serious about actually making a name for themselves, they have to somehow get the 7th seed (by hook or crook).

1.Pistons(playing like basketball gods)
2.Spurs(Starting slow but will finish on top of the West again)
3.Heat(Don't let their 15-11 record fool you when march and april roll around they'll be right behind detroit)
4.Suns(Just getting by without Amare but when he returns, they'll give the spurs hell)
5.Clippers(feel good story of the year, elton brand is playing very well this year)

Could the Pacers be a top five team?

Artest threw his final hissyfit, but Granger is playing great in his spot. They've won five of six and have the 4th best record.

Maybe I'm a homer but I say Pistons/Spurs/Heat/Mavs/Pacers

With Carlisle at the helm, anything is possible...

Hek, if he can have Michael Curry as his starting SF and win 50 games, I think he will do just fine with this Pacer squad.

Dude, I had to endure him for YEARS! I think it is safe to say that you won't explode if you read his name 1 time so that I can make YOUR point. :D

Oh, Detroit fan then?

I'm sorry. :( That's rough dude, he really is beyond terrible.

Heh, I live in MI. I also followed Indy because of Miller. Curry played for Detroit and Indy. I got to see him alot... alot more than I should have.

Well dallas is the second best team in the nba (THOUGH I HATE THEM WITH PASSION ). They beat us and beat the sonics the next day . Dirk is playing like a mvp and they don't miss nash at all .

Pistons are clearly the best team in nba .

"Any time Detroit scores more than 100 points and holds the other team below 100 points they almost always win." - Doug Collins

That gets me everytime

well we can take the clippers off the list . Pistons are still the best by a wide margin . Huge showdown in mo town vs the heat today .

Pistons
Spurs
Dallas
Cavss
Heat

my order is a lil different than others..but ir eally dont think the Clippers are in the top 5...and the cavs just beat detroit...so they move up there

Wow the clippers just died all of a sudden. Blown out by us, then Boston, who's next? I just hope everyone in our division keeps losing... and that we keep winning.

Clippers do have 3 of their key guys out in Maggette/Ross/Rebraca. But only one being a starter in Maggette, and they don't have a bench anyways, so, still pretty surprising to see them just getting destroyed at home, twice in a row. I had a feeling Boston was gonna win anyways.
