Hey guys, it looks like we need another person to bang in the paint- why isn't Petrie using his early bird rights on Songaila? Is he just not willing to spend anymore money? Cuz i assume he's going to sign on some minium salaries to fill out the roster.

Just curious.

We have an offer already pending to Darius. If he receives an offer from another team, we have the right to match it. If he doesn't, he's ours.

That's true, but I heard from sites (hoopshype & insidehoops) that Petrie wasn't planning on matching the Bulls (supposed offer for 2.2 mill).. I was just wondering why not, especially with the Bird rights

But i guess if there is an offer pending, then that makes me feel better.:)

From what I can gather, Petrie knows there really isn't any room for Darius, and he has pretty much told he and his agent that he will help him find the right situation for him. Darius is as good as gone. Darius' contract would also be over the cap so we'd be paying double for him. Still, I think the main reason is that Petrie doesn't want to put Darius in a situation where he'll be 3rd in our depth chart.

Hasn't Battie got some concerns with his knees

He hasn't missed many games the last two seasons and has played pretty well for the Magic lately. Plus his deal is expiring I believe.

thnx Sac- that clears things up..Plus thats understandable, and fair to Darius.

I suspect the hold up with the Bulls offer is related to discussions of sign and trade scenarios. In the end the Kings have the PF postion more or less covered between Reef, Kenny and Skinner. While I loved Darius hustle and shooting, he would really be a number 3 or four option and if a b anger is what you want Skinner fits the bill nicely. To be honest the bigest problem I see is the lack of respctable back up for Brad. I'd hat to see either Samson or Skiner filling in for Brad when he goes off on his anual injury.
