More proof that our market is viable and the magoofs are wrong

That is awesome news. I help support the team, and let me tell you, West Sac has done an AMAZING job with the Rivercats. I have no doubt that if West Sac got the A's some day that the A's would turn into one of the more valuable teams too. Sacramento is great at supporting teams, and owners that WANT to be here.

The Sacramento Rivercats are the most valueable franchise in minor league baseball,
not a major sport but still quite a feat to be #1 in the entire country. I think this helps further prove that the magoofs mismangement is more to blame for falling revenues than the area/economy. I sure hope this crosses Sterns desk as it would sure raise some eyebrows.

While this is great news for the Rivercats and Sacramento, it means little when comparing it to major league teams. Take a look at where the vast majority of minor league teams play and you will find a lot of small towns that make Sacramento look like a metropolis. There are a few exceptions, but not very many.

I am in no way trying to defend the Maloofs by saying this, just simply pointing out that it proves nothing about the market for a major league team. If you want to find proof that Sacramento is a viable market for a major league team, all you have to do is look at the history of the Kings' franchise. Sacramento proved they it was more than capable of supporting the Kings starting in '85 when the team first came to town. That support didn't wane 'til the past few years when it was becoming obvious that the franchise was no longer putting up the money needed to make the team competitive.
