Monarchs Game vs Liberty tomorrow

She dresses carefully for work, wearing the purple shirt, matching the handbag and socks to the shirt, adding a hair piece that matches. She remembers to tell the dog she will be home late. Her hands tremble as she tears the first ticket from the intact page with pictures of Monarchs players...YES!!! THE GAME IS TODAY!!!:( (I know it's a frown, but it's purple!!!)

As I went to tear my ticket from the booklet this morning I took a closer look at it... I don't know how I missed it before... but I am in the picture. That is so cool.

Which one are you? That looks like it might have been the Hawaiian thing, but I can't see myself.
It's the parade/rally the day after they won the championship. To find me you would have to start with the hip-hop crew kids. Because I am directly above the girl that is all the way to the right. There is a hand shooting straight up from her hat and then someone holding up a video camera and I'm right there to the left of those arms with the video camera. Looks like my head is practically attached to that arm. Dark brown hair and a serious expression.

I can't believe I can actually see myself, cause I remember barely being able to see. I'm too short to be in a crowd like that! It's a good thing that I had come straight from work, I still had my ridiculous heels on to give me a little bit of a boost.

So your avatar really is you? Cool!
Heh, no. I wish though. She was a beautiful woman. And that would make me about the age that Luv13 assumed I was before actually meeting me. :D

That picture has got to be circa 1939 or so. My avatar is Vivien Leigh, and I assume that it was taken either right before or soon after she cemented herself in Hollywood history with her portrayal of Scarlett O'Hara. I am a classic movie junkie and she is one of my favorites.

I wouldn't go there Mama...

The fact is Mama actually does bare a resembelence to that Picture. So if you are walking in the crowd and you see someone like that it is probably Lil Mama.

And Mama purposely led folks to believe that she was a 100 year old Monarchs fan with a Mrs. Robinson complex for Jason Williams.

Then waited til Luv13 was injured to pull the okie-doke on her.

Since I may never say this again...

Mama...
Contrary to what she believes...
Is actually a very stunning looking woman.

Yeah Dammit I said...
But she is so Bossy and Tempermental.

So anyway... The Luv will be in Sac tonight. Thanks to Dwalk and great timing.

So see everyone tonight...

Wish I could make it tonight, but have other plans. I expect a 500 word essay from all of you going tonight for those who can't attend, like me ;) . Have fun!!!

Hey fans, it has been such a long wait with only Kings to satisfy my hunger for WNBA BBall! I will be at the game also--bearing more signs! I am really holding my breath for the ring ceremony though!

Yes Koz was there...he shook my hand as he walked by.
No worries Monarch fans ...you did'nt miss much tonight. They did make a nice run & had a chance at the end. Liberty by 3...

It was great to see many of my Monarchs' fans friends. And, M's ball is always fun.

They came from about 15 pts down to tie it with about a minute to go. I enjoyed watching the scrappy ball.

Yo, Kara, and Nicole (who is not here yet) did not play and Ticha was only in for a few short minutes. Tonights game was not about winning, but about getting to see all these new young ladies in a game situation. They are the ones the coaches needed to see play. They cannot say they did not have a chance to show that they should make the team.

I liked Wilkins, but was disappointed in Greenwalt in the post. I did not see a good enough post player to replace DeMya though and that concerns me. Erin played well overall. She still gives you lots and lots of hustle. Augustine was pretty athletic, but didn't really seem to be in the flow of the game. She did not get many minutes. Smith is obviously a Rookie.

Haynie was a bit rusty in her ball handling and decision making (I thought). Could be because she took most of the off-season away from the game. O'Neil made a couple of jumpers, but nothing else to impress me. I think Scott will be part of the next cuts. I liked Jackson and Dorrell. They are both very scrappy type of players.

What did anyone else think?

That was an interesting set of line-ups coach played tonight. Obviously was looking at the rookies and free agents. I gotta say though I thought this bunch showed a lotta heart to pull themselves back from a 17 pt deficit. The end of that game was kinda fun. They were very scrappy and that was fun. If only they coulda made their FTs and finished wide open shots and stopped throwing the ball away at inopportune times.

I agree about Greenwalt, I thought Wilkins outplayed her and I was more into her for sure. I'm looking at the Walker replacement as more of like this...Brunson takes the Walker job, Buescher needs to perform like Brunson did when she was a 7th (wo)man off the bench and player X playing the OSR and Buescher role player role. I didn't see anybody who lead me to believe that they could do that. Wilkins came the closest. I need something else from her like maybe grabbing some rebounds and shooting the ball.

What the hell was up with the shooting tonight both from the floor and the FT line? They looked like they JUST saw a basketball and had heard that they need to shoot the ball w/in 24 seconds. I needed to see Kim Smith want to shoot the ball. The Monarchs really need her to show up offensively. Maybe some of these players were adjusting from a different sized ball. But geewhiz.

Erin Buescher was pulling that reverse layup stuff out of her proverbial >>> tonight. Brunson was mid-season "I'm about to have a breakout season" form. She like everybody else just couldn't finish shots.

A few more starters and a little more polish and I'll stop being worried. ;)

Scott is gone, Augustine might be too. Jackson might have taken O'Neill's chance to make the team away.

Game Notes

I just wanted to go on record in Saying...

I told you about Greenswalt. She will Never win the hustle stat, and her intensity leaves little to be desired.

I wish ya'll would listen when I tell ya stuff. But she did get an "And-1" 1-2 from the field.

Wilkins could be our post keeper. Big and phyical. Doesn't play outside of herself. Brings intensity and Rebounds with authority.

I was a little let down By Kim Smith. As a shooter she didn't seem really eager to shoot. And her shot could have looked a little better. Could have been first game blues.

How about ERIN B being the leading scorer... She gave a few thrills tonight but it was all about the hustle and that is why we love her.

Bekkah looks Like she wants a free Trip to New York... And I don't know if you guys missed it but Bekkah got a Mini Dunk during warm ups. She was exploding to the rim. I think this will be her year to really shine.

Maiga-Ba Looked like she could drive and score this year. Lord knows she can get past anyone, if she had the will to score it would be insane.

Surprises--Jackson is decent. She is an excellent Defender. She played a lot of point tonight, but more likely she will be a 2 guard. She could stick.

O'Neill looked better than Kim Smith. But how weird would it look to cut your 1st round Draft choice.

I think we have to be down to 15... Scott and Augustine might be the next victims. Not because they play that bad, but because the still need to keep some size for camp fodder. I liked Augustine but she is gonna be a victim.

Will add More later... Too Tired to think.

It was so nice to watch our women play again.....

Let's see, I have a nasty head cold, and couldn't focus on the game as much as I would've liked. So here goes....
Brunson!!! She was awesome, all over the place, eventhough her shots didn't always fall. She has that hop and wingspan. It was nice to see her still have that energy.
Haynie - Kinda rusty. She still did hustle to poke a few balls loose. Had a couple of rookie mistakes being picked.
Buescher - oh yeah...gotta love her energy.
MaigaBa - more energy too. She was doing alot of the same stuff she does...
Dorrel - Good energy.
Jackson - She was running alot! I thought she was pretty fast, and she defended ok.
Greenwalt - not impressed. Kinda slow.
Smith - Needs some more confidence. She seemed a little lost, obviously learning the new system. She needed to shoot more.
O'Neill - Not sure.....she seemed to hustle, but needed more vision or something....can't put my finger on it.

Can't really remember much of the others.....

The clock thing really bothers me. With the system Whiz runs, they have to pass too many times. So I'm thinking they need to make some major adjustments and of course get used to it too. I know it's just preseason, but they really need to pay attention to that clock. That's going to be a big factor for this team this season.

Not liking the fact that Yo is kinda hurt and Kara's not feeling well....the Bee said Yo has fluid in her knee....that's not good. Hopefully Bek can stay focused, and some newbie can step it up.

And it was nice to see the folks in 102 again......:D

I actually thought Greenwalt looked better last year. She's got a couple more games to make a better impression.

I did check the box score and saw we had 11 blocks last night. And the team had a stunning turnaround in the 4th quarter. Other than that, I'm waiting to see more of the starters work with some of the newbies - and maybe with more starters they all can remember that the concept is for someone to shoot the ball in 24 seconds, not make sure all 5 of the players on the floor touch in twice in that same period of time.

thanks to everyone that posted about the game, i luv the reports! :)

Erin changed her # to 7 because she loves soccer and that was her soccer number, so "for old times sake" she went old school. She also said #7 is her favorite. :)

Sheesh! Did she stop to think about the fans who had Buescher jerseys made up with number 11? Hopefully that jersey stand outside the Team Store has a way to swap out numbers....

I caught bits and pieces of the game on the radio. Does it look like Whiz is using Kim Smith as a 3, does it look like she could play the 4?

I see they are using #12 for Anne O'Neill. I know Edna's number was not retired, but, it's in use again, already?:(

She looked too small to me to play the 4, but then I thought a lot of the ladies needed to hit the weight room.

I agree, Smith doesn't look big enough to play the 4, I think you *maybe* stood a chance playing Powell up at the 4 and Smith at the 3 and add a little firepower that way offensively. But neither of them could log a lotta minutes playing against power forwards.

I read up on Wilkins, she has 3pt range in addition to the demeanor and skills she showed on Thurs. How cool would that be to add to the lineup if she continues to play well this preseason?
