M-Pic is gonna Die when she finds out.

We ran into Adrian And Demya when we were out to dinner. She is really nice and was very Cool When Pic and LilCrc went to Minny.

And We like our Players Cool, Stylish, and with a whole lot of Game. Btw Sholanda, DeMya and Adrian, we are gonna have a lot of Style Divas on the Monarchs.

QUESTIONS.......
1. Is this the Adrian Williams that played at U-Conn?
2. If so, wasn't she a high first round pick some time ago?
3. And if that is the case, what happened that has made her expendable?
4. I ask this question again, where does a post player fit in on this roster?

And the most concerning issue.....

5. Could this be the beginning of the end for Yolanda Griffith and her impending retirement IN 2007?

My responses:
#1. Adrian went to USC (Class of '99). Perhaps you're thinking of Lynx player Tamika Williams, who went to UConn.
#2. Adrian was drafted in the second round (21st overall) by the Phoenix Mercury in the 2000 Draft.
#3. Maybe the Lynx needed salary cap room. That's my guess.
#4. Don't know. I think the other posters on these board could best answer that question better than I could.
#5. Possibly. Just in case if Yo gets the same treatment that Ruthie Bolton got just before the 2005 season began. (that is, get waived before the season officially begins.)

With the acquisition of yet ANOTHER 6’4” ish player in the dispersal draft (Tangela Smith), Adrian became VERY expendable in Minnesota, even losing Vanessa Hayden this season to pregnancy. I think Tamika Williams contributed more to the Lynx than Adrian did and Adrian from what I read is coming off knee surgery she had late last season. And considering that we only had to give up a low second round pick for her, that’s pretty much wrote the story on her value to the Lynx roster.

I’m not convinced Yo is retiring, if she was I’m not sure why she’d be playing in Korea right now, other than to collect a check. And if her body was so bad that she cant play in the W this summer it doesn’t make sense that she’d play overseas now soley to get paid – she’s gotta have money invested someplace so she DOESN’T have to kill her body like that anymore or at least I would think so. Buescher and Maiga to me were always salary cap casualty bubble players, role players who have potential to have someone overpay them on an offersheet. If either one of them does not return, I can see Williams playing a role there – well, more so in Buescher’s case, Williams can’t give us minutes @ the 2 or 3 spot :)

Where AW fit on this roster? We also have an enigmatic young player in #32, Williams gives us veteran insurance behind her too. Brittney Wilkins was our designated towel waving post player last year, Williams is perhaps an upgrade there.

All in all, Williams was essentially an inexpensive insurance piece for any kind of contingency we could have coming into the 07 season. Her allstar season I think has passed her by and she may be a minute eating role player ala Buescher. It doesn’t cost us that much to give her a look, we essentially traded a college player who would have been camp fodder anyway. As long as Yo signs for one more(final) year, I’m not caring all that much why Williams is here. However, color me freaked out if Yo makes decision not to come back in the next couple of months.

One other item of note regarding Williams -- she's from the Central Valley. I'm one of those who think hiring local players is not the reason a player should be selected, but I do think Adrian would fit well in the Monarchs team play.

Is it March yet? I can't wait for March Madness!!!!!

GO MONARCHS!!!
