Monarchs 2007 training camp roster

I saw a few changes on the Monarchs' training camp roster, taken from their website:

1. Scholanda Dorrell is now Scholanda Robinson.

2. Chameka Scott is not listed, but is now on the Seattle Storm's camp roster.

3. I thought the Monarchs were going to re-invite the two Chinese players we had in 2005, but they are not listed either.

4. Who is this Antionette Wells from Wichita State? I don't remember hearing about her.

I don't think the Monarchs had need or roster spots for either FeiFei or Miao, hopefully they still have their rights.


Scott technically was an unrestricted free agent, so she had been listed on our roster simply because she was on it last year.


Wells...only here because we are short post players until Williams, Walker and Brunson return from overseas. I don't think we need to get too attached to her.

That's right. I remember when she got drafted, she was listed (either by the WNBA or by the news media) as Scholanda Hoston. Then she was Dorrell. Now Robinson.

At the rate she's going, I wonder what her next last name will be.

I talked with Coach Jennie last week and asked her about the two players. They DO have an agreement to come back for trainning camp this year, but there's a hitch. The Monarchs aren't interested unless the two can commit for the entire season, forsaking any national team play back home.

Unfortunately China is hosting the Summer Olympics in 2008 and will probably keep their team together in preparation. So it looks like a no-go this time. I'll keep everyone up as I get updates.
