Miami Heat: Top team in the East?

I must have been on a bender when I first posted this thread in the Monarchs forum...

anyways...

They beat us (no small feat) and they beat LA (still something to be proud of). Methinks they've put together a good resume to take top billing over the depleted Pacers and Pistons. What say y'all?

Shaq and Wade have a good thing going, so I can see them doing well in the East. I picked them from the beginning to make the playoffs for sure, but I'm not convinced they can take the East with just their tandem.

Even if they make it out of the East, they have zero chance to beat any of the top 3-4 WC teams in a 7 game series, unless they play injured teams.

No one in the East is playing anywhere near the basketball that we are seeing from Miami. I, for one, expected Miami to be markedly improved because of the addition of the most dominant player in the game today (and for the past few years). But, Dwayne Wade is really coming into his own. If they continue to get some production from their other starters, this will be the team to come out of the East. I expect them to be playing in the finals, however, it is a long way to the playoffs. Injuries to either Shaq or Wade would have a profound effect on this team. We shall see.

I don't think that it will be too easy for the Heat to come out of east. Pistons will finally pick up their game and play with intensity come playoff time. Even Indiana can be a good team even without Artest. Cavaliers also look like a really good team. I think that they will go deep into the playoffs but won't make it out of the East.
But one thing that they have which is similar to what the Lakers who won the 3 championships is 2 superstars surrounded with good role players. So they should be really interesting to watch.

maybe. no one can stop shaq. wade is amazing, but i still think the defending champs are the team to beat.

even if they win the east, i don't think they will win the title ( i still think the spurs will)

i think seattle might go all the way this year..... okay, no one is that lucky. they can shoot but that wont be enough to get past san antonio 4 times... 2 or 3 yeah.... but not 4. minny better fall to the 6th seed and lose to the spurs or sonics in the first round....

ESPN's Mark Jackson on SC last night said the Heat were going to win the NBA Championship this year.

I thought... "HUH?"

Well I guess we can mark him down as on the Heat bandwagon.
