McCarville Wins Most Imrpoved

Still feel this should have gone to Bekka. She was #2 in the league in double-doubles, only behind Lauren Jackson; 3rd in the league in total rebounds, and 1st in the league in offensive boards. She was 15th in the efficiency rankings, and McCarville was not even close in ANY category.

But that's okay--Bekka's 2007 WNBA Championship ring will more than make up for it.:D So let's go Monarchs--bring home the goods!

I agree, Den-Den. When Rebekkah is placed in so many categories, and MCCarville is not even close...

well horsepuckey. :p

Congrats to McCarville! She did a great job (even if I thought she should be voted 2nd place. She had a much improved year.

Considering that the MIP Award has been given out to ex-Charlotte Sting players for three years in a row, my question is...will former Sting GM/Coach Trudi Lacey hand out the award? :)

At this rate, perhaps Olympia Scott or Tangela Smith (also ex-Sting players) might get the award next year! :D

Anyway, congrats to Janel.

(But, boy, it's just too easy to dump on Trudi!)

Correct, and I'm suprised that the voting was not even close. Janel got 33 votes, while Bekka got only seven? Loree Moore (also from the NY Liberty) came in third place with two votes.

East Coast bias, anyone?

Right on! The Championship Ring is the one that REALLY counts. We know that Bekka already has one, from 2005. And the Liberty? How many WNBA Championships do they currently have right now? Oh, yeah...as many as they deserve. :)

Correcting myself...make that FOUR seasons in a row, that the MIP Award has gone to an ex-Sting player. Janel McCarville, Erin Buescher, Nicole Powell, and Kelly Miller escaped Charlotte to later win the MIP Award. Kelly (then with the Indiana Fever) was the co-winner in 2004, along with Wendy Palmer (then with the CT Sun, though Wendy never played for Charlotte).
