Knicks shift focus to surprising name in disastrous head coach search

Jonathan Macri, head of Knicks Film School, revealed in a tweet that during an upcoming podcast with Ian Begley of SNY, the first name Begley mentioned in connection with the Knicks' head coaching search was Mike Brown. It is the latest name in what has been a disastrous search for the Knicks.

It's hilarious to me that, after a few seasons of competence, the Knicks imagine they're top-of-the-mountain enough to go poaching head coaches from other franchises. 51 wins in the East, a 4-2 loss to the Pacers, and they think they have the weight to throw around and pry Ime Udoke from Houston?

Even more hilarious that they fired Thibs for fallback options like Mike Brown. That hardly even qualifies as a lateral move, much less one that helps them level up into a proper contender.

The thing about Mike Brown is that I think he’s a great small market coach but a bad big market coach. His Lakers run was disastrous because the media machine absolutely ate him up and spit him out. If he does get the Knicks job, hopefully he can manage that aspect better than last time.
