KingsFans.com un-official "WNBA Ten at 10" - #8

I am not surprised to see Mique this low in the top 10. I think she was expected to be much higher (if not the best ever). She really showed her humanity and what it must be like to have so much pressure put on someone coming out of college into a professional arena.

Nicely written again.

To be fair, has any one player in the WNBA ever had greater expectations placed on her? I recall how when the WNBA was put together, Leslie, Swoopes and Lobo were the focus of the league, but Holdsclaw was supposed to be the one player who, in the minds of many as I recall, was expected to "validate" the league. That's an awful lot to ask of one young woman just out of college.

I totally agree with you, Slim. I did not mean to sound as if I thought she was a failure. On the contrary, I think she is a good example of what we do to other human beings when we place such high expectations on them....especially to the young. She has my respect. I hope she makes it to the top one day.
