While I expected to see Tina Thompson in the top 10, and deservedly so, I don't particularly like her ranking. I think that Lauren Jackson is an all-around better player. If they were to switch places, I think it would be more accurate.
I think that being selected number 1 in the WNBA put a lot of pressure on her though, and playing behind Cooper and Swoopes (both of whom got much more of the limelight, and were better players) has to have been tough.

While I would not "out" anyone who participated in the voting process without their permission, I will comment on my own ballot, as a way of clarifying why Tina Thompson ended up higher than Lauren Jackson:6th said:
It's not that complicated, really: Lauren Jackson was not on my ballot. As I mentioned to you in confidence last winter, when I did my own voting, I probably gave greater weight to body of work than most of the other voters would. And, as it happens, nobody who hadn't played at least six full seasons in the WNBA made it on my ballot.
So, basically, although I didn't vote Thompson in as high as #5 myself, since I had her on my ballot, and I didn't have Jackson, I guess you could say that it dropped Jackson's "average."

I LOVE Tina Thompson. I think Tina is as on par with Cooper and Swoopes, just in a different way so it's kinda hard to compare her. Until she got hurt, she was on track to win an MVP award. When she's healthy she's unguardable and she made it easy for Swoopes and Cooper to do what they did. I still argue that Delisha Milton stole her Olympic team spot.
And who can compare with her for all the drama queen antics? Tina is the master of the dramatic fall to the floor.
Before LJ came along, Tina and Leslie had some of the most legendary battles - culminating with the Leslie meltdown in the WCF. Mr 4Play swears he also had a hand in Leslie coming unglued after she got ejected from that game.

No, he swears he and his seatmates said something to her that made her crawl over the back of the chair and start for the crowd until somebody grabbed her. I should let him wander over here and tell is own story....
