Kings-Rockets PBP thread - Jan. 28

Welcome fellow Kings fans.

I just got home from work. I have about 45 minutes worth of stuff to do and less than 30 minutes to do it!

I will do the play-by-play but I'm not going to do much of an intro. Feel free to fill in your own.

I will be back in time for the player intros and tip off. I promise!

They report that on the plane to SA, Pedja had difficulty getting out of his seat. He canot sit on the bench because of the pain. He's in the training facility receiving treatment.

For the record, the difference between Webber yesterday and Webber today is like night and day.

According to Tolbert, Van Gundy just stepped almost onto the court so he could look down at the Kings bench and make sure Pedja wasn't sitting there in uniform.

From what they've said, Pedja is in a LOT of pain - which really hit him on the flight from Sacramento into SA. They said he had difficulty getting out of his seat because of the pain.

All the side commentary so far has been about the Kings, and it's been accurate and unbiased, IMHO. Tom is pointing out the horrible timing of our injuries.

Tolbert says the Kings are the best passing team in the league, and goes into detail about all the types of passes the Kings do well.

"It doesn't feel very good. I did it to my back a few weeks ago in Utah. I tried to play through it but I couldn't. I hope it gets better soon. It's day to day. I hope to be able to play soon. It feels better today than it did yesterday."

About Doug:

Doug was great teammate and great player. Cuttino will bring us more offense and more scoring. We have five players who can score.

About the Kings:

I think we're playing good basketball. We have a lot of things to do to improve. It's not easy with Bobby Jackson being out. Webber being in and out. Myself out.

About the rest of the game, when asked if he was going to stand up since he can't sit down:

I'm going back to the locker room.

Cat says he misses the people of Houston, but not the team. Gray says, "Are you bitter?" He says, "No, I'm not a bitter person."

Gray says what's it like to play with the Kings? "It's great. We've got a good team and great big men."

Gray asks about TMac - Cat says "He went on a streak and got hot at the end of the first half. We're just going to have to cool him back down."

Stephen A. Smith talking about Allan Houston and how he should retire if he cannot play. Greg Anthony disagrees vehemently. Houston is going to miss at least 5 games (IL) because of knee problems.

Darius Miles suspended two games for conduct unbecoming an NBA player. From what they've said, he made a comment to Steve Nash - in front of Mo Cheeks - that he (Miles) doesn't care how many games the Blazers lose as long as it gets Mo Cheeks fired.
