ATLANTA - If enthusiasm counts for anything, then signing guard Eddie House was good for the Kings.
The veteran free agent already was a pseudo-member of the family - he's Mike Bibby's brother-in-law. Now, House truly is a member of the Kings family after the team placed guard Bobby Jackson on the injured list and claimed the former Arizona State star.
The 6-foot-1 House said he and former Arizona star Bibby never discussed playing together, but that might just be a Sun Devil-Wildcat thing.
House, who is from Union City, said he was ready to try it as soon as his agent told him of the possibility of joining the Kings.
"I told (my agent) to try to make that happen as much as he can," said House, who was with the Milwaukee Bucks and the Charlotte Bobcats already this season.
"My family is from out there. It's just a blessing, man. I'm on a winning team and at home, that's a blessing."
Bibby said he was pleased to receive the opportunity to play with House, other than during summers in Phoenix.
"He can get the ball up the court, and he can score," Bibby said of House, who was drafted by the Miami Heat in 2000. "He can shoot, he can make shots. Defensively, he's fast and came from (playing for Pat) Riley."
Kings coach Rick Adelman said House needs to get into a practice, but he's looking forward to having the guard aboard.
"I think he was the best player available with the experience," Adelman said. "He's proven he can score off the bench, and he can score coming off picks.
"We're hoping he'll give us a little lift."
Big buy - Kings forward Chris Webber said he purchased a home in Tyrone, Ga., for $2.8 million. It's a 140-acre estate with a 9,500-square-foot ranch home. "I've got a goddaughter here and numerous family members and friends," Webber said.
