Kings current TV deal

Just did some checking.

They signed a 10 year deal with Comcast in 2004. So unless they have an out clause they will either have to pay it off or have to keep it for the next 2 years if thats even allowed under the contract in a new city.

You are correct.

Kings reach out to Valley - Comcast TV deal sets the stage for acquiring new fans in one of the fastest-growing regions of the state.

"There are also the programming fees, which could be worth several million dollars in each of the 10 years of Comcast 's contract with the Kings."

Radio deal with KHTK ends after this season.

Very good odds most/all of next season is a lockout.

Thus, if no outs (which is a huge unknown) they are probably looking at one year breach. Damages will be very easy to asses, because Maloofs buy the air time and run their own ads.

At most, its 82 games x the amount the Maloofs pay per game - whatever comcast gets to run something else on those nights.

Because the Kings ended their arena naming rights, radio deal, and other contract this season ... and already had a cloudy future in 2004, I doubt they are fully locked into that TV deal for two more seasons.

Is that deal regional, or could it theoretically be reworked for another market?

Is their deal with that particular network, or is it with Comcast in general? If it's with Comcast, I'm sure it could be tweaked for a different market, without breaching.
Pretty sure Time Warner serves most of OC. Interestingly enough when I lived in LA I had Comcast and the Lakers signed a deal with Time Warner. Who knows anything except these cable companies are the devil. I'd side with virtually anyone over a cable company.
