Kevin Martin revised

Ok, let me clarify.

Kevin did NOT sign any deals today.

There is an offer on the table of 5 yrs and 55 million dollars.

Nothing has been signed.

Geoff Petrie and Kevin's agent are talking, and there is a deal on the table.

Something MAY happen this week.

You can read more about it in Sam Amick's article at sacbee.com tomorrow.

So, basically, Kingsfans.com had the crux of the story well before the Bee?

Cool.

;)

Sorry. I misunderstood. I dont know if the thread was edited or not, but what I read here was that he actually SIGNED an extension. This is in fact not the case. He was offered an extension, and has (as of 9:40 PST) not signed anything.

The two threads I read on this earlier said he had signed, not been offered.

That is what Sam will report tomorrow, barring any changes. I was just trying to clarify.

If it was reported earlier that he was just made an OFFER, then yes, you had it correct.

"crux of the story" was the key point, Dave. If that's the offer on the table, I strongly suspect Kevin will indeed sign it.

Note the winking emoticon. Bottom line is I don't care where the story breaks or how it develops. I'm just very, very, very glad to hear SOMETHING positive about the future of Kevin Martin with the Sacramento Kings.

:)

well, I guess we differ on what the meaning of "crux" is.

In fact, the only crux I've been dealing with for the last month is a horcrux, and I'm just glad I was right that Harry was one.

:p

"crux" means pivotal, fundamental or vital point. In this instance, the fundamental point of the post was the 5 yr./$55 million offer, which was an indication there was at least active movement in the right direction to secure Martin's services for the foreseeable future. I think it's a pretty safe assumption that Martin will most likely sign said offer so the offer itself is, by extension, more important in the initial scheme of things.

:p

OMG - did someone say that Kevin was a horcrux for "He who shall not be named?" Oh.............never mind..............carry on. :p

wait a minute-

I would think the crux would be different. If you're speaking of the "vital" point, then I would think him actually SIGNING the deal would be it.

I understand that the odds are he will in fact sign it, and if I had to bet money, that's how I would bet.

However, he hasnt signed anything, so I'm not sure I can agree.

For example:

If the Raiders were playing the Patriots in Foxboro in a month, I'm guessing they're going to win. In fact, I would bet a lot of money on it.

But at the same time, I wouldnt say "The Pats beat the Raiders" a month before the game started.

The story is: Kevin Martin was made an offer.

The story is not: Kevin Martin has signed an extension.

IMO, that's a pretty big difference. I know you and I are going all semantical on each other (dont think that's a word), but it is what it is.

:o <----token emoticon, cause you and I already used two others

We have seen virtually no action. I'm going to take an offer as a BIG step in the right direction, a crux or fundamental point, if you will. If you choose to argue semantics, that's your choice.

You've said Sam is going to have it in tomorrow's Bee. We had it here today.

Have a nice evening.

GO KINGS!!!!

I agree, in a sea of non-movement, this is a fairly big move in one direction.

However.....

Sam will have the fact that Kevin was offered a contract today.

KF had that Kevin Martin signed a contract today.

I guess there isnt a difference. I apologize.

You have a good evening too.

Go Kings!!

Wow, I read all that and still don't know what the hell is going on. Something about the Patriots or something...;)

Yeah! Did they just say that Kevin was leaving the Kings to go play for the Patriots or something? ;)

KF had that Kevin Martin signed a contract today.

KF had that first, and since has amended it - much like what happens many, many times on ESPN, etc.

At least Kingsfans.com had something. And in the realm of rumors on message boards I think our score would have to be much higher than Ric Bucher's, for example. I can't recall him getting ANYTHING right recently.

I haven't read book 7 yet so I'm pretending NOT to notice anything with the word "Potter" in it.

Just like Tim Duncan's piece in the NBA playoffs teasers a couple of years ago, I'm sitting here with my hands over my ears and singing, "La la la ... la la la ... la la la ..."

;)
