Crowder was a guy I wanted the Kings to get a few different off-seasons ago. But at this point I think McNair's normal approach of trying to find a diamond in the rough wing is a better plan than Crowder as he just hasn't looked like the same player the last couple seasons. Especially last year when he only shot 42% from the field and 35% from three. With both his defense and shooting taking a big dip I just don't see it.

Some fans (not I) have complained of a lack of toughness on the Sacramento Kings. Jae Crowder would certainly add that.

The Kings looking for defense regardless of anything else is a +. It's tough since it's not some long term answer but still, it shows they know what's up at least.

I wanted this dude like 7 years ago, but agree with the sentiment here. Not a guy I'd look to actually play minutes, but certainly someone who can fill the "javale" vet leadership role as an end of bench guy

Talk about buying low, after most of the value is gone. Love the guy a few years back. I think he’s pretty much toast now I would love to be wrong.

Crowder played in 50 games and averaged 23.1 min and 6.2 pts per game for a good Milwaukee team last year, which is fine for a bench vet. He would definitely add some much needed toughness to the bench if we added him. Coach Brown tends to favor these tough grizzled vets for these end of bench roles.

I wouldn’t mind adding Crowder to the roster for some extra toughness, defense, & shooting at the wing/forward spot (although the shooting and defense isn’t what it was). I’d rather play Crowder over McDaniels so there’s that. I still see the depth chart as…

PG - Fox / Monk / McLaughlin
SG - Ellis / Carter / Jones
SF - DeRozan / Huerter / Crowder
PF - Murray / Lyles / McDaniels
C - Sabonis / Len / Robinson

Our 11-15th men are not that bad (mainly McLaughlin & Crowder) so if injuries do hit, we can probably stay a float a bit.

Also, with Carter out for awhile and Huerter still working on getting back on the floor, guys like McLaughlin and/or Crowder could very well see some floor time right out of the gate.

Crowder has some tread left IMO. He played last season and his game is based on toughness and timing. Perfect benchateer who is there if needed.

No, I believe he'd need to be signed to some sort of contract to be a camp participant.

Maybe? I think Crowder emerging as a bit of a malcontent also hurts his chances to catch on with an NBA team. Especially when he's also 34 and concerns about him declining increase.

It could also be him touching base with teams and waiting to possibly join a contender as a ring chaser later on. It's felt like he's been one foot out of the NBA for a few years now though.
