She's a shooter--can never have too many of those on the team. Hopefully she kicks tail in camp this year (probably won't come in 2010 if she's training for the WCs with Australia) and earns her way into the rotation ahead of some of the *ahem* guards we currently have.

Well Okay....

She has a few things to get excited about, but I am not yet convinced that she is an upgrade from what we currently have now. We already have a 5'9 shooting guard. However she probably was the best player available and if she is an upgrade that good stuff. And heck we didn't have to give up anything to get her.

What concerns me about her is that she has already demonstrated that she will sit out the W season. And that sort of bothers me. She does us no good Chilling In Australia, or coming on year and sitting out the next.

The only benefit is that we can put her on the suspended list and it wont count against us.

I wonder if there is a package in the works for her. Cause if she can't give us quality minutes at PG then this could be a futile effort. How Many Combo guards do we need?
But then again, She was the best option we had without taking on a Jumbo contract. Burn your White Sage everyone. And think Happy thoughts.

She's an upgrade at SG over Robinson, Allen, and perhaps Newton (if she doesn't fully recover from injury) on the offensive side of the ball and is probably equal to Lawson in terms of shooting. She's a better player than Smith and Franklin. I think this is a good move because it could mean we are nearing the end of this "by default" roster construction that's been going on here since Whiz took over at GM. She could be a good SG off the bench for us and would actually have to compete for her spot in the rotation if that's the case.

That said, Camino has no PG skills whatsoever. We'd still need to bring in someone (or a couple of candidates) to compete at that PG spot (let's be done with these less-than-mediocre midgets, please). But if Camino does come to camp in 2009 (and I have no reason to believe she won't), then she'll definitely push the aforementioned players. That, IMO, is a step in the right direction for a team and roster that's used to not being challenged during training camp.
