Ice Worms!

I was cross-country skiing last week near Loon Lake and observed a lot of little worms on the surface of the snow. They were about an inch long and as fat as small sewing needle. They were dark reddish-brown like blood-sucking leeches. I have never noticed anything like this before, so I looked it up on the Net. I found this report.

Apparently, the big glaciers of North America are full of ice worms, perhaps different than the ones I saw in the Sierra Nevada, but ice worms none-the-less.

Who would have thought that worms could live in snow packs and glaciers.

Until now, I was under the impression that one should avoid eating yellow or red snow, now we have to worry about eating ice worms and fleas!

I don't eat sushi for the same reason.
