Hollinger opinion on Bibby/Cavs, Artest/Houston

Kevin(Cleveland, OH): Hey John, Its obvious the cavs need a point guard to help elevate them to the next level. Is Mike Bibby the only answer? Or are their other options out there that would work at less of a price?

John Hollinger: (2:15 PM ET ) I actually think Bibby is a poor choice -- he makes a ton, doesn't defend well and won't push the tempo. Basically, he's like Daniel Gibson except at 10 times the salary. They need a guy who can push it up and allow LeBron to play off the ball more.


Tim (Toledo): Artest: does he push Houston to the top of the Western mountain?

John Hollinger: (2:40 PM ET ) I'd be terrified that he'd take shots away from Yao and T-Mac. Artest's big problem in Sacto was thinking he was The Man on offense and hoisting terrible shots.

Defense didn't seem to be the Cavs' problem so much as the ability or willingness to shoot. True, Bibby's a poor defender, but he'd make teams pay the price for sloughing off to stop LeBron. The question is, what does Cleveland offer the Kings that's worthwhile?

As for Artest taking shots away from Yao and McGrady, seems a bit far-fetched. Yeah, he thought he was "The Man" on the Kings, but I don't see that being much of an issue in Houston. Besides, you can almost count on either McGrady or Yao missing about a quarter to a third of any given season, at which time the Rockets turn to Battier or Luther Head to pick up the scoring slack. Artest would be a real asset to them. But again, who are the Rockets willing to give for Artest that the Kings would want to have?

I don't totally disagree with him on Bibby/Cleveland, but I think he's off when it comes to Artest and Houston. I think that part of Artest's problem in Sac has been that he didn't have a lot of confidence in other players' ability as go-to guys, and Muss' way of dealing with things seemed to include letting RonRon try to carry the team. I think he'd do best under a coach who emphasises teamwork, where there are other strong offensive options available, and where he doesn't feel like it's his personal team. I think he'd do quite well with Adelman + Yao + TMac.

bibby would be perfect in cleveland. bibby needs that superstar to help take pressure off him to make plays. when teams focus on better players, it allows bibby to get open looks which he makes other teams pay. i don't think hollinger knows how clutch bibby is either. bottom line is, whether cleveland can offer us anything worth listening to.

same goes for houston, whether they can offer us anything we'd want..

Bibby has to slow it down? Has he watched Kings basketball at all over the last few years. Gosh, I can't stand it when people get paid for being idiots. I need to put my application out, maybe I can make some money for my admitted ignorances.
