Why not use Adelman... you could write a whole thesis just copying down the things people type about his coaching style on this forum.
Seriously, though you could try Larry Brown and how he got his whole team to play together unselfishly and how that conflicts with Phils style.

Thats a long debate but if you want my opinion ... Brown stresses the team concept more than Phil. Even when Brown had Iverson he was constantly clashing with him over his attemps to be an individual(wanting to skip practice etc.). He didn't like to engage in arguments or conflict with his players(he never stays anywhere for very long). Phil (Lakers version) on the other hand seems to enjoy it. Almost cultivating the egos of his superstars by needling them thru subtle comments in the media, until they want desperately to seek his approval even if they don't like him. Kobe wanted to show that he was the best, Shaq wanted to show he was the best, and Phil Jackson loved it cuz it worked. Ask someone else and they'll prob give you a totally diff opinion but there can be no argument that both coaching styles worked for their respective teams... they have the hardware to prove it.

I am not sure how much work you are up for, but there is a lot of reason to belive that college and high school players are effected by coaching to a larger extent than profesionals. The key factor being age. That being said young players out of high school would be an interesting group to look at and so would college coaches espcialy guys like Knight, Tark and Pitino.

At the NBA level you might look at some spesific players and how their game changes with changes in coaching. For example Changes in Ostertag's game after comming to Sac, or Boozer's game in Utha. Another area worth looking at is Latrell Sprewell chokeing P.J. Carlesimo.

PS. Affect has to do with emotional changes. Effect has to do with bringing about a change in something else. Good luck on the paper.

You may also check the women's college basketball side of the house.....

Pat Summit from Tennessee is an incredibly intense coach. The coach from Rutgers, Vivian Stringer - has some adversity of her own to deal with. Geno Aureima from UConn. All of these great coaches instill alot of positive influence on their players. I know the women's game is not as "cool" as the men's game, but the women do work at least as hard or harder to just be able to play.

Oh you have plenty of time. If you want to really go old-school and talk about the best NBA coach of all time you should research Red Arbauch's Celtics. The were a real team, more like a family. Not to mention they beat the snot out of the Lakers year, after year, after year, well you get the picture.
