Head assistant? Pitino? Anyone else?

I dont think Rick would make a good coach in the YMCA league, let alone the NBA as an assistant...I dont think Reggie would be that errr...um...whats the word I'm looking for here?:D

...as much as I am not on board with Reggie's hire, the thought of Rick Barry coaching on this team is..err...um..you're right, you can't put it into words. Well you can, but you would get banned...and rightly so.

Responding to the original question, not in a million years. Pitino has an excellent contract, as well as one of the top recruiting classes in college basketball coming to Louisville. He wasn't a good fit in pro basketball, but does a great job teaching young college players (and assistant coaches, see Donovan, Theus, Willard, Smith, Pelphrey, Van Gundy, et al.). On top of that, the guy DOES have an ego. Just don't see him being happy as an assistant to a former assistant.

Head Coach:
REGGIE THEUS (49 years old)

Lead Assistant:
JOHN LUCAS (54 years old)
-Fourteen year NBA career
-Six years as an NBA Head Coach (Spurs, 76ers, Cavaliers)
-Best year was in 1993-1994 (55-27 record with Spurs)
-174-258 record as a Head Coach

Third Assistant:
ALEX ENGLISH (currently with Raptors) (53 years old)
-NBA's 11th all-time leading scorer
-Elected to Hall of Fame in 1997
-Eight-time NBA All-Star

Fourth Assistant:
SIDNEY MONCRIEF (Head Coach of the Fort Worth Flyers of the NBDL) (50 years old)
-2X NBA Defensive Player of the Year
-Eleven year NBA career (15.6 points/game)
-#4 jersey retired by Milwaukee Bucks

Fifth Assistant:
JAMES WORTHY (no coaching experience) (46 years old)
-Three-time NBA World Champion with Lakers
-Elected to Hall of Fame in 2003
-#42 jersey retired by Lakers

Replace Worthy with Randy Brown and you can still be on to something. ;)

How about Vlade for big man coach/European scout?
