[Rumor] Haynes: Malik Monk made available for trade

It’s hard to come up with a lot of fits. Pistons are one but I can’t imagine they trade a first unless they get both Keon and Monk. Ivey is talented but not sure l like his fit long term. If it was up to me I’d re-route him to a third team for more draft capital.

Why don’t you like his long term fit? If he hits he can be our starting pg if not he can be our 6th man like monk


And zero chance Detroit’s if giving up a first for monk I think they’d be interested in Schroeder as well
 
It's funny that the report says the Kings want to get "younger and more athletic." Who are they likely to get that is more athletic than Malik Monk? He also happens to be in his prime, not "two years away from being two years away," like the Brazilian great, Bruno Caboclo.

The Pistons want to trade Isaac Jones back to the Kings? Whatever for?

I hope it happens soon, for Malik's sake, and that he goes to a contender. He deserves it, after laboring in the lower rings of Hades for most of his career.

Ivey is a shooting guard and I’d prefer a better defender at that position. Plus, he is due for a contract so now we are tied up long term again.

I like the idea of Ivey as a buy-low bet. He's been getting phased out of DET and they're predictably not going to want to pay him in RFA after some of his injuries. He's not the right running mate next to Cade.

We wouldn't get the pick, but a Monk for Ivey swap does make quite a bit of sense for both teams. Pistons get the locked in production now at a fixed cost while the Kings take the upside flier for a team that needs as many upside bets as possible.

I just don’t know if I buy the defense. He wasn’t a good defender in college and has been just ok in the pros. I wouldn’t hate it but I think I’d rather look for a stronger two way player.

I'm still not particularly high on Ivey, but as a buy-low candidate he could be interesting. It'd also be kind of wild to pair he and Murray together after all the talk about the Kings blowing it in the 2022 draft by passing on Ivey. Neither has managed a significant breakthrough into star territory, though I still think Murray has a pretty lethal ceiling as a modern two-way wing if the Kings can ever manage to get rid of all the aging iso guys in their rotation.

Yeah, it's the same theory as with the Kuminga bet. There's certainly talent and intangibles that could lead to being a star, it's a matter of can he get there with the right development. I do, in theory, like Ivey around Nique/Carter/Keegan in the back-court as a potential good fit too.

We're not paying a huge tag to see what's there either. Monk is a very good player, but I'm guessing his value is pretty much exactly this; a thus far disappointing young player with upside that's shown flashes or a contract+late FRP. And for the Pistons, their path to the finals this year is wide open; give me the guaranteed production while not having to deal with Ivey RFA in the off-season.

Big fan of Ivey. Just not that one, but, accumulating youth in this case isn't a bad thing.
