Good Coaching?

When we had almost this same team during Rick's last year I thought we had a pretty decent team. Was it a powerhouse like the spurs? No. But the next year around we got wussyman and our team STUNK! Now a year later we have another new coach who I think is doing a great job. Our record may not be that great but we had been seriously depleted by injuries. I know its still very early but I think with our team healthy we have a better team than most of you think we do. I think a big credit goes out to Coach Theus, he has the team playing at a very nice level and I cant wait to see what happens the rest of the year!

I agree that Reggie Theus has been infinitely better than last year's coach. The players are buying into his concept and it's putting a much more entertaining product on the court.

I agree! He has proven himself so far this season as a great coach and I hope that he will be a serious contender for the coach of the year award :D

plus, we dont see this from our coach anymore, which is always encouraging:

I think he is the best coach that the Kings have ever had. He develops, then actually uses, his bench players. He is a realist, but also positive. Finally, every time he is interviewed he has something useful to say. He thinks on his feet. I like his attitude and style.

I really don't think Brad Miller gets enough credit for our resurgence. He really made a commitment last year to getting it together and it's completely turned the attitude of our ballclub around.

I'd like to wait until he gets 1/20th the wins RA got before I give him that distinction.

In a post long ago, soon after he was hired, I...

...had predicted that he'd get Coach of the Year this year and I'm please to see that he's lived up to my expectations, based on my own personal interactive experiences with Reggie.

Getting Theus was a masterstroke by the Maloofs and GP and it totally wiped out the wussyman (funny name, that) fiasco. Thank God Stan VanGundy backed out like he did. I'd have no confidence with Stan, but Reggie...man, what a coach.

And Reggie is getting paid, what, 2 million a year? For, what, three years? Reggie really ought to get a pay raise if he takes the Kings to at least the Semi-Finals this year. Hell, most players on the team makes more money than Reggie does--that does not compute!

But you can also thank theus a little for that one. Flying out to indiana and telling brad he needs him. I think that helped brad get started.

It's very lucky to have this coach!

Whenever I remind that this is the rookie year for the coach Theus, I'm very surprised.

IMO, IF we go to playoffs (though it's very difficult), he'll be one of the candidate for the coach of the year. Otherwise maybe McMillan of Blazers will get that. Anyway, he's been great till now. :D

Barring an absolute meltdown by the Trailblazers, there's not a chance in hell that Theus is Coach of the Year. Hell, if the Hawks make the playoffs, Woodson might finish ahead of Theus, too.

Don't think Theus has much of a chance for COY. So far, it's McMillan hands down and as much as I hate to say it, Phil Jackson has to be somewhere in the mix too.

If I had to vote today, PJ would get my vote. I am not a fan of his. However, I must give credit where credit is due and the coaching job that he has done in LA this year is seriously impressive.

Playoffs?! Playoffs?!

I'm liking the enthusiasm, but let's take this one game at a time, shall we?
