From the recent "Ask Nancy" column

#1
Here is a portion of WNBA.com's most recent edition of their "Ask Nancy" [Lieberman] column, about the Monarchs. It was posted just before Game #1 of the current Monarchs-Sparks playoff series.

Even though they had an amazing record and season, I still feel like the Monarchs are being overlooked in the playoffs by fans and experts alike. What do the Monarchs need to do to earn more respect? Thanks.
-Ben G., Pinole, CA

Nancy: "They just need to win. It's like they've played LA four times, and last year was the first time that they beat them. It's not about what the fans think or what the media thinks. That's the fun part, the hype. It's about producing, and I think this is the type of team this year which can continue to produce. I like everything about their basketball team."

Keep in mind that Nancy predicted the Monarchs would be an also-ran in the Western Conference!

Actually, I like Nancy. She is one of the better at analyzing teams. She is not the only one who predicted the Monarchs dropping off the radar this year. Heck, as much as I love them, I sure did not expect them to run away with the West.

Now, if we were talking Ann Meyers, that is another story. She is a nut case...IMO. :p

To be fair to Nancy, hardly any "experts" predicted the Monarchs would do as well as they did this season.

In Ann Meyers' case, I think she tabbed the M's to be next-to-last. And I think we can all easily figure out who she predicted to be in first place, eh? :)

Lieberman picked the M's to finish dead last in the conference...not merely a also ran.

For me, it's once in a blue moon that Lieberman comes up with something actually insightful and even then I find myself doubting that she actually wrote it. She is one of the biggest rumor mongerer who doubles as a "expert" for the league. That maybe should rank her higher in my book than Meyers who rarely seems to do ANY homework for ANY game she does outside of her job with the Sparks.
