Fox baseball coverage?

Does anyone else find Fox's baseball coverage to be, at the least, immature and almost insulting? I know they are looking to reach out to a broader audience and the casual fan, but come on. "Fan cam" was the worst of all, when all they showed was attractive blonde women. I find it insulting that Fox thinks their audience needs the coverage to be dumbed down so much.

Pish and tosh, to both of you. I think that the announcers are perfectly acceptable; they do a very good job of explaining the game.

Not being as good as very good announcers isn't the same as being bad. Buck and McCarver do a good job of explaining the game to fans.

i don't have a problem with them explaining the game to fans, its the way they do it. it seems so "lowest common denominator"

buck and mccrappy are the WORST!

buck is annoying, and mccrapy is losing his marbles. he kept on calling bronson arroyo brandon during the ALCS last year.

i hate the fan cams, i remember 2 years ago when the cubs were playing the braves in the NLDS, i swear every freaking shot in the stands was of kerry wood's wife the night he was pitching. scooter insults baseball fans intelligence. very very annoying.

i much prefer watching jon and joe on ESPN. as a giants fan, i'm fortunate enough to be able to listen to jon miller night in and night out. he is the 2nd best annoucer in baseball ( to vin scully. speaking of scully, jon does a pretty good impression of him ;) ) joe can get a little annoying at times, but it's all good. he provides really good commentary and great knowledge of the game. gotta love the hall of famers.

i'd have to say, imho, that the dodgers announcer (as much as i hate the dodgers) is by far the best t.v. announcer these days. he is all by himself (no stupid rants) and has some of the most off the wall facts (regardless of who is playing)

You seem to be operating under the faulty assumption that everybody who tunes in to watch baseball on television is an astute baseball fan. They're not explaining things to the "lowest common denominator" for your benefit; they're doing it for mine.

Scooter doesn't insult the intelligence of casual baseball fans such as myself, who pretty much only tune in when there's a "big" game on; *I* certainly didn't know what the **** a changeup was before they told me...

LOL. With all your basketball knowledge, I figured you'd be multisportknowledgeable. Well, now you know what a changeup is;)

Nah; I paid no attention to baseball before 2001... People like my dad ask me how I can continue to watch baseball after the strike, and my answer is because I didn't watch baseball before the strike, so it doesn't resonate to me.

Football, I don't watch at all, unless Tech is playing and/or, I'm stuck on duty, and it's the only thing on. For example, I have duty tonight, and FOX doesn't come in on my ship, so I am forced to watch something else, and got stuck watching this USC/ND game. I'm more or less rooting for ND by default.

Well, you were "forced" to watch an amazing game at the least.

The terribleness starts and ends with Joe Buck...for me he's like the Al Michaels of baseball...annoys the hell out of me...I just want to say SHUT UP...actually I do say it...McCarver is like the "dumb blonde" of the two (no offense blondes)

I do agree with ONEZERO that Fox's theme music is hot :nods: I have Fox theme music on my cellphone as a ringer

it's not the fact that they have something that helps the casual fan understand more about pitching, it's just the approach. that stupid baseball with it's high pitched voice, it really bothers me. it makes it sounds like it's more targeted towards kids. i think it could be more tolerable if the voice were changed.

and if you ever have any baseball questions, feel free to ask me. i love baseball and would be glad to provide you with as much info as i can if needed :)
